Position Title: Sr. Chef Manager - Northwood School - Lake Placid, NY

Salary: $75,000-$85,000/yr.

Job Summary

Join our team in Lake Placid, NY

Join CulinArt Group as a Sr. Chef Manager at the prestigious Norwood School, a coeducational independent boarding school in beautiful Lake Placid, NY.

Your role will involve overseeing the culinary program and handling all financial reporting. In addition, you will be responsible for menu development, financial management, inventory control, purchasing, labor management, maintaining cleanliness standards, and managing personnel, including hiring, mentoring, counseling, training, and development.

This is a 7-day-a-week, year-round culinary operation and requires flexibility.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws
  • Participates in employee meetings and training programs
  • Conducts safety, sanitation, and maintenance programs
  • Maintains food costs while ensuring quality standards
  • Maintains an active role in managing team developments
  • Manages purchasing and inventory controls
  • Performs related duties and special projects as assigned

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Degree in Culinary Arts is helpful or equivalent professional experience
  • At least Five (5) years of dynamic culinary management experience is required
  • Self-starter, innovative, and able to multitask
  • Experience with nutrition
  • Some catering experience is preferred
  • Maintains a positive attitude under pressure and motivates the team
  • Must possess a passion for excellence
  • Must have knowledge of HACCP controls, as well as accurate storage and use of food.
  • Purchasing, food storage and sanitation experience
  • P&L and financial reporting experience
  • Knowledge of budgets, labor costs, inventory controls
  • Strong leadership, mentoring and training skills
  • Computer skills: proficient in Microsoft Office and POS
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Outstanding business etiquette and client relations
  • Ability to lift, bend and carry up to 40 lbs
  • Knowledge of safe and sanitary food handling principles
  • Conformity to the highest standards of personal integrity and ethical behavior
  • ServSafe or Department of Health certification a plus
