Clinical Psychiatrist - Consultation Liaison Service

Job Description:

The Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the NYU Grossman School of Medicine is currently recruiting for a Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist with clinical experience and activities closely aligned with the Department of Pediatrics and the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. The candidate will join a clinical, educational, and research-informed service that provides psychiatric consultation to medically ill patients, families and providers at Hassenfeld Children's Hospital at NYU Langone and Bellevue Hospital. The role of the psychiatrist will include the provision of direct clinical coverage and direct supervision of trainees, as well as the supporting the programmatic development of the behavioral health system across the continuum of care, expanding and building programs that can support children and families in all settings where medically ill children receive their care. The psychiatrist will spend time developing programs and delivering integrated services in the pediatric outpatient subspecialty clinics.

The psychiatrist will have the opportunity to collaborate with a diverse and dedicated team that includes child psychiatrists and psychologists, general pediatricians, subspecialty pediatricians, medical social workers, nurses and advanced practice providers, child life specialists, creative arts therapists, and trainees. Program development and interdisciplinary team and family engagement and education will be critical components of this new role.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:



  • Provide coverage for the Pediatric Psychiatry Consultation Liaison (CL) Program;


    • Provide evidence-based interventions involving therapy and/or medications, if indicated;
    • Train and supervise psychiatry, psychology, and pediatric trainees as well as medical and nursing students;
    • Lead and coordinate case conferences, bedside rounds, and educational seminars for the multidisciplinary staff


  • Contribute to the design, implementation and evaluation of innovative integrated care models within pediatric specialty care;
  • Partner with patients, families, and multidisciplinary HCH and Bellevue teams in program development, continuous improvement, and evaluation;
  • Review and maintain pediatric psychiatry CL service standards and protocols;
  • Participate on relevant hospital committees, such as the Children's Services Leadership Committee, Child and Family Resilience Steering Committee, Quality and Safety Committee, Child Protection Committee, Violence in the Workplace Committee, Ethics Committee and others as requested by CL Director;
  • Collaborate with CL director to design and collect key performance indicators and collaborate to ensure success for quality and safety performance improvement plans;
  • Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary team partners.



Minimum Annual Salary:$240,000

Maximum Annual Salary:$250,000

**The salary range listed is for full-time employment and does not include supplemental compensation or benefits. Actual salary may not fall within the listed salary range; consideration will be made for experience, training, hospital/community need, and other factors.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The annual salary range for a full-time junior faculty role is $240,000 to $250,000. Candidates who qualify for higher faculty appointments are also encouraged to apply. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including faculty appointment, credentials, research history, specialty, and health system need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.

Minimum Qualifications



  • Previous experience in an academic healthcare setting
  • Strong interpersonal, communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate with patients, families/caregivers and multidisciplinary teams
  • MD or DO
  • Board Certification in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry or board eligible
  • Licensed or license eligible in the State of New York
