Job Description
The purpose of this position is to coordinate the Community Standards and Interventions area of the Student Success, which encompasses student conduct and case management. This position serves as an institutional advocate assisting struggling students and those exhibiting concerning behaviors (academic, behavioral/emotional, interpersonal, and physical indicators), protecting the integrity of the academic mission of the College; ensuring policies and procedures are followed; addressing presenting issues; and delivering a fair and equitable process that protects the community and promotes learning and growth for students. This position reports to the Associate Vice President for Student Development.
The incumbent coordinates the Student Intervention and Prevention ( SIP) team and serves as a co-chair and member of the Care Team; engages in case management with students to identify resources most appropriate to their needs and then assists them in connecting with those resources; investigates and adjudicates student conduct cases in adherence to the Code for Student Rights, Responsibilities, and Conduct; serves as an administrative hearing officer in formal student conduct hearings; responds to students in distress; oversees the Student Conduct Review Board; and provides administrative management and oversight to the student code and well-being database. Additionally, the Coordinator works closely with Accessibility and Student Well-Being on partnerships with community services/resources for the provision of basic needs, emotional health, and wellness in collaboration with the department's staff.
Other duties include supervising staff as needed; attending the Behavioral Intervention Team ( BIT) statewide affinity group meetings and trainings; leading team meetings and coordinating training for the Student Intervention and Prevention team; developing educational programming and promotional materials to educate students and employees on the SIP and Care Teams; and maintaining online content.
Employees of Harford Community College, including instructors for online and virtual courses, must be residents of Maryland or the contiguous states of Delaware, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia or the District of Columbia; non-residents are expected to relocate to meet this requirement.

Required Education
Master's degree level of study in student personnel administration, higher education administration, or a related field
Required Experience
A minimum of Three (3) years of experience in behavioral counseling, mental health, college counseling, residential life, college community standards/conduct/judicial services, or related experience in a postsecondary environment. Also, a minimum of 1 year of supervisory experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Effective case management techniques include comprehensive intake and assessment, goal setting, service coordination, and regular monitoring and review
  • Knowledge of the fields of student conduct and related legal issues and privacy requirements
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience in developing and facilitating training
  • Knowledge of due process rights of students
  • Familiarity with implementing student development and retention theories
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience with Student Case Management Software

Preferred Qualifications

  • L.C.S.W. - C
  • Experience in student affairs at an institution of higher education
  • Experience with Maxient database platform

Hours per Week 40 - 100%
General Weekly Work Schedule
Monday - Friday, 8:30AM - 4:30PM with occasional evening/weekend hours.
