GENERAL FUNCTION: Oversees the functions of a group or team of employees to ensure the coordination of materials for specific work areas in order to meet company quality and safety standards within production schedules, in the most cost-effective manner. Works under the general directions of the Inventory Control Manager. TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed and are not to be construed as an exhaustive list of all responsibilities: * Leads and performs the administrative and operational duties associated with the assigned shift. * Monitors job activity of material coordinators, answering questions, giving guidance, and resolving problems. * Maintains paperwork associated with receipt and movement of material. * Monitors work processes and products to ensure quality and cost containment standards are maintained. * Ensures company equipment is properly handled, maintained, and secured. * Ensures and monitors compliance of safety rules and regulations by all employees. * Performs all duties of a material coordinator (i.e., determine needed materials, locate and arrange transport of materials to work area, etc.) DESIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES: * Knowledge of plant operations with particular emphasis on material coordination. * Strong communication skills. * Knowledge of blueprints and schematics along with shipyard terminology. * Prior shipbuilding experience. * Knowledge of material procurement. * Knowledge of Microsoft Office software including Excel. * Ability to effectively build and lead a productive work group and to perform as a member of a management team. EXPERIENCE & TRAINING: H.S. diploma or GED with experience in material logistics/handling preferred or one of the crafts associated with the use of blueprints or schematics. Previous experience as a toolroom attendant or similar role of experience and training which result in the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
