What You'll Do: As a BI Engineer you will support our business development stakeholders, clients and Data Organization by answering complex data questions and mining data insights from our robust warehouse that contains billions of entities, attributes and relationships. You will analyze, identify and surface data coverage metrics, gaps and strengths from our Data Platform. You will discover valuable trends and patterns that will help answer our clients most pressing problems and support their missions. A successful candidate has extensive experience in SQL, data mining and data exploration, is self-motivated, and excels at working both independently and on dynamic, cross-functional teams.

About the role: As a BI Engineer you will contribute to a variety of technical and operational areas by:

  • Analyzing large, complex data sets to identify patterns and connections that provide insights to support client objectives as well as overall data strategy.

  • Write complex, optimized SQL queries to extract, manipulate, and analyze data from various databases.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand data requirements and sophisticated use cases, translate into data mining queries and deliver relevant solutions.

  • Communicate findings and recommendations to technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Document data analysis processes and findings.

About You: You're a good fit for the role of Business Intelligence Engineer if you have:

  • A bachelor's or master's degree in a data or quantitative field (e.g. data analytics, data science, computer science, data engineering).

  • 3-5 years of experience working as a Data Scientist, Business Intelligence Analyst, Data Engineer, or equivalent role.

  • Love data, data exploration and discovering new data connections, trends and insights.

  • Advanced, hands-on proficiency in complex SQL for data querying and manipulation.

  • Knowledge of JavaScript, Python or other scripting tools.

  • Understanding of Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing concepts and technologies.

  • Be able to independently research issues and quickly learn new tools with little guidance.

  • Proven experience in data analysis and interpretation.

  • Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts and technologies.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

  • Self-driven, with proven ability and discipline to work independently with a distributed development team in multiple time zones.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. national security clearance

  • Nice to have: Experience with Snowflake

Thomson Reuters complies with local laws that require upfront disclosure of the expected pay range for a position. The base compensation range varies across locations.
For any eligible US locations, unless otherwise noted, the base compensation range for this role is $88,200 - $163,800.
This role may also be eligible for an Annual Bonus based on a combination of enterprise and individual performance.
Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual's knowledge, skills and experience with consideration given to internal equity. Base pay is one part of a comprehensive Total Reward program which also includes flexible and supportive benefits and other wellbeing programs.
