Work Schedule:

100% FTE, 40 hours/week. 8-hour day shifts. Direct patient care, clinical and didactic education occur Monday Through Friday 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM. Quarterly weekend and annual holiday assignments. Hours may vary based on the operational needs of department.

We are seeking an Acute and Critical Care Occupational Therapy Fellow to:



  • Become well versed in acute care occupational therapy with advanced clinical skills for evaluation, assessment, and treatment of various diagnoses in a fast-paced environment.
  • Assist in appropriate discharge planning and goal setting for patients and families as a trusted advocate as they progress through their hospital stay.
  • Participate in didactic learning modules to further growth and knowledge in a specialized setting.
  • Challenge their own and other staff member's clinical decision making through constructive feedback in didactic units and case presentations to advance the role of occupational therapy in acute care.
  • Work collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary team to carry out evidence-based treatment plans to maximize functional outcomes for patients.
  • Receive and modify practice patterns based on constructive feedback from mentors.

  • Cover letter detailing reason for application to the fellowship program.
  • Statement essay of goals and objectives (1,000 words) for fellowship area of interest in acute and critical care occupational therapy along with areas of interest. Please include:
  • Be prepared to answer the following questions:

    • Strengths and/or weaknesses that might influence participation in the program.
    • Two clinical experiences that will contribute to your ability to succeed in the program.

  • Three (3) letters of recommendation, including one from former professor/mentor and one from previous/current employer.


Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited, entry-level degree program (Baccalaureate or higher) in Occupational Therapy Required
  • Credentialed by National Board of Certification for Occupational Therapists (NBCOT) Required
  • Must obtain NPI number prior to starting the fellowship program Required

Work Experience

  • 1 year of prior relevant experience Preferred

Licenses & Certifications

  • Licensure as an Occupational Therapist in the State of Wisconsin Upon Hire Required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) within 3 months Required
