SUMMARY The Ambulatory and Outpatient Professional (AOPD) Manager, a leader and mentor, works collaboratively with and reports to the Director of Clinical Practice for Ambulatory and Inpatient Services. Their role involves assessing, identifying, planning, implementing, coordinating, facilitating, and evaluating educational activities through a systems model. This includes the tools, theories, skills, and knowledge of the specialty to improve the healthcare practice of learners based on the Association of Nurse Professional Development (ANPD) Practice Model and per the Scope and Standards of Professional Nursing Practice. Using expertise in education and professional development practices, the AOPD collaborates with the Ambulatory Educational Nurse Specialist and clinic and outpatient staff and leadership to implement and evaluate professional development programs that influence professional role competence, continuous learning, and growth and promote synergistic practices and patient outcomes throughout the organization. The AOPD also supports patient care by being a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team of licensed and unlicensed caregivers who ensure that patients, families, and significant others receive individualized, quality, safe patient care.
