CAD Drafter

POSITION SUMMARY: To reference plans for commercial and leisure properties to create fabrication drawings for cabinets, reception desks, and other specialty millwork items. Produce working documents for a variety of projects for the in-house architectural department.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Responsibility.
• Interpret Architectural plans and sketches to locate all millwork within the project.
• Create detailed floorplans, elevations, and sections for all millwork using Microvellum & Inventor (an Auto-CAD based design software.)
• Create submittals, fabrication shop drawings, installation drawings for custom cabinetry.
• Create material & hardware cut-lists using Microvellum, Inventor, AutoCAD, and Excel
• Program CNC machinery, using HSM and/or Mastercam preferred.
• Rework original drawings for any field dimensions or design changes.
• Ensure accurate and complete file management including document distribution.
• Use sketches, study models and computer-generated graphics and models from designers and planners, to create computer aided designs for new or modified buildings or structures.
• Develop working drawings for new or redesigned retail fixtures.
• ALL OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED

EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:

• Minimum Degree Required: High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Preferred Degree: N/A
• Certificate(s) or License(s): N/A
• Years of experience: Preferred experience in using Microvellum, Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD. Previous experience with designing/drafting for custom cabinetry millwork

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY:

• Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook,etc)
• Willingness to learn/train on CNC machinery and Mastercam software.
• Attention to detail to notice changes in dimensions, finish, hardware, etc.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Regular computer work, walking, standing, and lifting up to 50lbs

INDEPENDENT JUDGEMENT:

Performs tasks and duties under general supervision, using established procedures and innovation. Chooses from limited alternatives to resolve problems. Occasional independent judgment is required to complete work assignments. Often makes recommendations to work procedures, policies, and practices.
