MMSD is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Production and Inventory Specialist in the Community Outreach & Business Engagement Division. Reporting to the Milorganite® Sales and Operations Manager, you will coordinate inventory operations and work with distributors, vendors, contractors, and freight companies to fulfill the needs of Milorganite® customers in accordance with MMSD policies and procedures.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Coordinate the receipt, processing, and execution of customer orders, and work with departmental personnel and vendors who supply bagging and logistical services. Ensure organization requirements are clearly defined and communicated to customers. Prepare customer invoices, accompanying paperwork, and issue customer credits.
- Work with customers and shipping/freight forwarding companies to ensure cost effective and timely delivery of products. Facilitate driver check-in process, carrier appointment scheduling, processing of carrier paperwork to ensure on-time shipments, and the resolution of shipping discrepancies.
- Track inventory of all production, packaged goods, and bag stock. Work with contractors to ensure accurate and sufficient levels of inventory to meet customer needs. Calculate the monthly payment to contractor, ensuring timely and accurate payment.
- Administer state fertilizer regulations for all products to ensure regulatory requirements are met.
- Execute office functions, such as departmental procurement activities, payments, mail distribution, literature fulfillment, and co-op advertising.
- Complete special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
- Associate degree in business administration, marketing, or a related degree.
- Four years of job-related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Previous shipping experience.
- Experience with business-to-business sales.
- Ability to multi-task and demonstrate strong attention to detail.
- Resilient personality and the ability to handle all prospective clients and call situations with a professional demeanor and positive attitude.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, organizational and time management skills, and a proven track record in meeting deadlines.
- Ability to meet the reasonable expectations of internal and external customers.
- Professional self-starter who can work independently and collaboratively with others.
- Knowledge and proficiency with Microsoft Office required.
- Prior working knowledge of ERP system(s) helpful (ex: Oracle, SAP).
- Valid driver's license and a good driving record at time of application, during selection process, and throughout employment.

Physical Requirements:
- This work requires the occasional exertion of up to 10 lbs. of force.
- Work regularly requires sitting, speaking, hearing, and using hands. Work occasionally requires standing and walking.

- Work has standard vision requirements. Vocal communication is required for expressing ideas by means of the spoken word. Hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels.
- Work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data, vision inspection involving small defects and/or small parts, operating motor vehicles, and observing general surrounding and activities.
