Job Purpose

The Digital Business Strategist is responsible for supporting the business and operations work stream within a multi-disciplinary digital product team structure. They partner closely to execute several activities, such as identifying risky assumptions, building the value case, defining the future-state process vision, executing change management plans, etc.

The scope of this role will be within the New York Electric Plan product line. The product line is focused on optimizing our capital investments, maintenance, and network flexibility to meet customer and regulatory demands. The focus areas can include, but are not limited to, optimizing the capital portfolio, improving collection and visibility of asset health and resource planning. Existing Products in this space include FutureNow, GridMD, Interruption and Disturbance System (IDS) amongst others.

Key Accountabilities
  • Lead business capability assessment, design, alignment and road mapping for product line with cross-functional teams.
  • Construct lean business case, including value projections and detailed investment estimates; ensure these are aligned with product definition.
  • Track objectives and key results to assess benefit realization of products proactively, and as part of the overall portfolio.
  • Identify riskiest assumptions and support product team in designing and executing solutions to increase confidence in business case assumptions.
  • Support business/ operation work stream team, participating in Agile sprints during full product roadmap.
  • Define future-state operations, including detailed current-state and future-state process documentation.
  • Accountable for leading change mgmt. and product roll-out plan, with help from the change mgmt. team as needed.
  • Implement marketing, sales, business development, user acquisition, and user support strategies.
  • Provide support to product and technical workstreams (e.g., RFP support, stakeholder management, value alignment, IT governance, IT PMO).
  • Support preparation of materials for key stakeholder readouts and to support department strategic planning.
Supervisory/Interpersonal- Experience Required
Qualifications
  • Ability to assess and document current state operations, identify customer/ user pain points, and help translate business needs into product requirements.
  • Ability to perform data analytics, including designing and building dashboards, and communicate meaningful insights.
  • Experience defining and refining value cases (e.g., financial value to the business, strategic value, etc.).
  • Ability to design future-state processes and operations that address user frictions, including articulating any changes needed to reach the future-state process.
  • Ability to design and run experiments to test and refine business assumptions.
  • Ability to build and refine a product business case, including benefits (financial, non-financial, strategic) and costs.
  • Knowledge of digital product implementation fundamentals and digital ways of working.
  • Experience working on digital product teams highly preferred.
  • Experience in defining, testing, and refining product assumptions.
  • Experience in Agile product or project management.

Salary: $128,000 - $151,000
