The Senior Manager, Medical Affairs Operations and Planning plays an integral role in the Operational Excellence of US Medical Affairs. This individual will require an understanding of the scope of Medical Affairs activities as well as excellent operational efficiency, communication, project management, contract management, and budget oversight. The position will deliver by building strong relationships with key partners in a highly matrixed team environment. This role is accountable for managing operational excellence in alignment with department strategy, vision, goals, and objectives.

Essential Functions

  • Collaborate with leadership team to drive the operational excellence that supports US Medical Affairs (USMA) strategy and tactical plans

  • Lead end-to-end operational support for USMA vendor management, including contract initiation/execution, project management, and management of vendor relationships

  • Lead operational activities for HCP/HCO engagements with USMA, including end-to-end consulting agreement initiation/execution and management of HCP/HCO relationship

  • Collaborate with leadership team to implement new systems/process or projects and provide project management support to high-priority projects within USMA

  • Oversee budget management and ensure alignment with Finance team; proactively monitor spend, anticipate accruals, and communicate with budget owners regularly

  • Collaborate with internal partners to identify, build, and maintain detailed trackers, dashboards, and reports for key USMA projects/initiatives

  • Identify opportunities to increase overall process efficiencies and effectiveness and create process (step by step) documents for the USMA Operations and Planning team

  • Represent USMA Operations in cross-functional congress planning and provide operational support (Examples: report templates, trackers, dashboards, etc.) for USMA congress activities

  • Lead collaboration with other operations contacts within USMA Operations and Planning, Global Medical Affairs (GMA) Operations, and Business Operations and Analytics (BOA), to align on best practices and information sharing

  • Create and maintain cloud-based filing structure for team documents

  • Assist with the development and management of SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures), policies, guidances, work instructions, and associated technical documents that are significant for USMA

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong understanding of Medical Affairs function and operational support, with at least 3-5 years professional experience within related field or life-science company, or at least 2-3 years of experience within Medical Affairs

  • Intermediate to advanced competency and experience with a variety of digital applications, including Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, SharePoint), project management tools, and Medical Affairs systems

  • Excellent ability to prioritize, organize, and manage multiple competing assignments and responsibilities; project management experience preferred

  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in a matrix organization and collaborate with team members and leadership teams

  • Ability to develop and maintain a good working relationship with the internal and external customers

  • Ability to work under pressure and timeline constraints.

  • Understanding of operational challenges with ability to develop effective resolutions

  • High-level of personal and professional integrity and ethics

Required/Preferred Education and Licenses

  • Bachelors' degree in the life sciences or in a related field; an advanced degree (e.g., PharmD, PhD) is preferred

Jazz Pharmaceuticals, Inc. is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices and we strive to provide employees with total compensation packages that are market competitive. For this role, the full and complete base pay range is: $148,000.00 - $222,000.00

Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, and other pertinent factors. The goal is to ensure fair and competitive compensation aligned with the candidate's expertise and contributions, within the established pay framework and our Total Compensation philosophy. Internal equity considerations will also influence individual base pay decisions. This range will be reviewed on a regular basis.

At Jazz, your base pay is only one part of your total compensation package. The successful candidate may also be eligible for a discretionary annual cash bonus or incentive compensation (depending on the role), in accordance with the terms of the Company's Global Cash Bonus Plan or Incentive Compensation Plan, as well as discretionary equity grants in accordance with Jazz's Long Term Equity Incentive Plan.
