Summary of Job Duties:Vision for UAMS Regional Programs (UAMS-REP):

Our clinical programs provide high quality primary care and interprofessional primary care training experiences to UAMS students and family medicine residents in settings outside of the university campus in central Arkansas.

Our workforce pipeline programs increase the number of students pursuing careers in healthcare, especially students in rural and underserved communities.

Our regional campuses serve as a platform from which UAMS achieves its educational, research, clinical and service missions throughout the state. Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in business, finance, healthcare or related field with preference of a Terminal Degree (MD, DO or PhD) plus ten (10) years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A strong record of senior leadership and administrative experience, managing clinical services, strong financial and budgetary oversight experience in an academic health sciences center (such as a Dean, Department Chair, Program Director, or Division Chief).

  • Proven success and experience in recruitment, retention, and development of a diverse student body, mentoring, strategic planning, philanthropic efforts, and academic scholarship, including research and publications. Important qualifications also include proven experience in presenting on a national level and obtaining extramural grant funding.

  • Successful experience in accreditation, exceptional written and oral communication skills, and an understanding and vision for the changing landscape of education and research.

  • A strong track record of building interdisciplinary teams and programs.

  • Have a current, actively engaged, and externally funded research program.

Responsibilities:

The Vice Chancellor for Regional Programs (VC-REP) supports UAMS' mission by:

  • Providing strategic leadership for UAMS-REP's healthcare workforce pipeline programs with the goal of increasing the number of students successfully pursuing careers in healthcare, especially students from rural and underserved communities.

  • Providing outstanding interprofessional primary care training experiences for students and family medicine residents in rural and underserved communities, especially those located outside of central Arkansas.

  • This work is performed in collaboration with the chair of the DFPM, the deans of the college of medicine, public health, pharmacy, nursing and health professions, the provost, and the office of the designated institutional official for regional programs.

Identifying and promoting new opportunities for the use of UAMS Regional Campus resources to accomplish UAMS enterprise-wide goals and objectives.

  • Works with the chair of the DFPM, the director of the Primary Care Service Line, and the Vice Chancellor for Clinical Affairs to use REP clinical and administrative resources to expand UAMS' clinical footprint in primary care and specialty care into underserved communities around the state.

  • Collaborates with the chair of the DFPM, the director of the Institute for Community Health Innovation, the director of the UAMS Translational Research Institute and other campus investigators to expand UAMS' community and population health research programs to rural and underserved Arkansas communities.

  • Collaborate with community stakeholders and hospital leaders.

Collaborating with the provost, the dean of the COM, the chair of the DFPM, and the director of the primary care service line to design, implement, and sustain new regional campuses sites and primary care training programs in rural and underserved communities.

  • Development of a new UAMS Regional Campus and family medicine training programs across the state.

  • Creation of a new family medicine obstetrics fellowship program.

Providing strategic leadership and operational support of UAMS-REP personnel, finances, and infrastructure for the eight UAMS Regional Campus Centers and the six affiliated family medicine residencies.

  • Advocate for the UAMS Regional Campus faculty, residents and staff within the university, Arkansas communities and nationally.

  • Works with the chair of the DFPM to promote the integration of Regional Programs faculty and staff within the DFPM and the COM.

  • Works to create an optimistic, constructive, and engaged culture within UAMS-REP which supports the accomplishment of its various missions.

Working closely with the UAMS Division of Institutional Advancement to expand philanthropic gifts which provide important support to the various pipeline and educational activities of UAMS-REP

Working closely with the UAMS Division of Institutional Relations to support UAMS' advocacy for public policy and governmental relationships which facilitate the achievement of UAMS' mission, especially in communities outside of central Arkansas
