The Quality Engineering Co-op offers a 6-8 month immersive experience for students seeking more than a typical internship. This program allows participants to step away from their academic studies and engage in real-world engineering challenges directly tied to the company's strategic objectives.

Located at Watlow's manufacturing center of excellence (MCOE) in Columbia, Missouri co-op participants will work on impactful projects in quality management system process standardization, automated inspection and testing equipment selection and implementation, new quality systems and tools implementation, and product failure analysis and corrective action. They will have the opportunity to apply classroom knowledge to real-world manufacturing projects while collaborating closely with mentors and experienced engineers.

Co-ops will learn how to:



  • Perform Failure Analysis of Sensors and Heaters
  • Learn the Eight Disciplines (8D) Problem Solving Method for Corrective Actions
  • Complete Process Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (PFMEA), Control Plans, and implement Statistical Process Control (SPC)
  • Perform Gauge Repeatability and Reproducibility studies.
  • Develop and implement Elimination, Prevention and Detection Type Error Proofing Solutions
  • Program, use, and implement automated testing and inspection equipment.
  • Collaborate across multiple functions to create and implement standard quality management system processes.
  • Use Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Business Systems.



Qualifications:



  • Currently enrolled in an accredited university pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in mechanical, industrial, manufacturing, process engineering, or a similar field.
  • Available to take a semester off from school to work at a Watlow facility.
  • Ability to start June 2025
