Summary:

An integral part of the Philanthropy team, the Philanthropy Associate is responsible for processing charitable gifts to MIM including memberships, individual gifts, and more. The Philanthropy Associate also manages the donor acknowledgment process and contributes to database and administrative support across the Philanthropy Department to ensure a five-star donor experience. The ideal candidate enjoys data entry and takes pride in efficiency and accuracy. This is a part-time position, approximately 24 hours per week, reporting to the Senior Philanthropy Specialist.

Key Accountabilities

  • Process gifts in the forms of credit card payments, checks, IRA and DAF contributions, wire transfers, employer matching gifts, and stock transfers
  • Ensure timely and accurate gift entry to adhere to the 48-hour turnaround policy for acknowledgments
  • Evaluate gifts to determine appropriate funds, campaigns, appeals, etc. and make informed decisions regarding placement of gifts as needed
  • Create and update donor records including change of addresses, membership benefits, relationships and affiliations, salutations, donor recognition preferences, etc.
  • Oversee the donor acknowledgment process, including but not limited to thank you letters and emails, and the assignment of applicable acknowledgement tasks to various team members
  • Develop and implement processing summaries to provide weekly, monthly, and quarterly progress reports, as required
  • Document and ensure compliance with standard operating procedures and policies for donor record management in partnership with the Senior Philanthropy Specialist
  • Actively participate in Philanthropy Department meetings
  • Participate in other projects and initiatives as agreed

The Ideal Candidate

  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Prior experience with Salesforce/PatronManager CRM (or equivalent donor database) is a plus
  • Experience in office data work, customer/guest/donor relations, and proficiency in computer operating systems
  • Proven ability to exercise good judgment, with strong understanding of ethics related to fundraising activities and ability to use discretion in interactions with donors, prospects, volunteers, and others
  • Highly developed verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information effectively
  • Organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to excel in a fast-paced environment
  • Sense of humor, creativity, and appreciation for the role philanthropy plays in building community

Other

  • This is a part-time, hourly position working on-site at MIM; anticipated starting hourly rate of $22 per hour
  • Desired schedule: Mon, Wed, Fri from 9am to 5pm
  • MIM's fiscal year aligns with a calendar year, with peak donation periods in March, July, and December
  • Must be able to sit and work at a computer for multiple hours
