The Assistant Women's Field Hockey Coach provides administrative, instructional, and recruiting support services under the direction and supervision of the Head Women's Field Hockey Coach and Associate in Physical Education.

RESPONSIBILITIES:




  • Achieving a high level of competency in sport skill instruction, motivation, and
    conduct of practice sessions under the direction of the Head Women's Field Hockey Coach.
  • Recruiting student athletes effectively under the direction of the Head Women's
    Field Hockey Coach.
  • Exhibiting the highest professional standards and ethical behavior with adherence to NCAA, Ivy League Conference, University, and the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics and Physical Education rules and regulations and/or Code of Ethics.
  • Responsible for teaching in the required Physical Education program.
  • Demonstrating a sincere interest in the social, emotional, academic development, professional and personal development, as well as the athletic welfare of student athletes.
  • Demonstrating excellent writing, speaking and listening abilities.
  • Participating in continuing education conferences, workshops, or meetings to
    increase professional skills and knowledge.
  • Exhibiting leadership and professional behavior in dealing with student athletes.
  • Completing all assignments made by the Head Women's Field Hockey Coach including but not limited to budget management, scheduling and fundraising.
  • Contributing to the maintenance of good working relationships.
  • Design and implement specialized goalkeeper training sessions tailored to individual athlete development and team strategy.
  • This coach will work closely with the Head Coach to develop and execute a comprehensive goalkeeper training program aimed at enhancing the skill level, performance, and competitive readiness of student-athletes. The ideal candidate will bring a strong understanding of the technical and tactical aspects of goalkeeping, an ability to foster a positive and inclusive team culture, and a commitment to the holistic development of student-athletes both on and off the field.
  • Performing other duties as assigned by the Director of Intercollegiate Athletics and
    Physical Education.


Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:



  • Bachelor's Degree



Minimum Qualifications:



  • A high level of competency in field hockey skill instruction and motivation, and understanding of the role of intercollegiate athletics in a highly competitive academic environment.
  • Strong recruiting, teaching and coaching skills.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • An ability to build and maintain positive relationships with student athletes, staff and alumni.
  • Demonstrated success in coaching women's field hockey preferably at the NCAA Division I level or a comparable level (comparable experience may include playing in a professional or other high-performance environment, such as for a national team, club team, or at the Olympic level)
  • Understands the philosophy, principles and policies of NCAA college athletics
  • Proven skills in fan, friend and fund-raising.



Preferred Qualifications:



  • Master's Degree or equivalent level education preferred.
  • Exercise physiology, kinesiology, and/or strength & conditioning experience (educational or professional) preferred
  • Interest and aptitude towards statistical analysis and application in tactical development and strategizing
  • Competency in video capturing/analyzing and leading team video sessions (group and/or individual)
  • Fluency in GSuite, Microsoft Applications, Slack
  • Experience with video equipment & analysis software including (but not limited to) TeamXStream, Focus, QuickTime, iMovie, etc
  • Interest in developing and maintaining Columbia Field Hockey social media presence
