Responsibilities

Diagnoses and treats individuals with psychiatric disorders and substance use disorders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Directs the interdisciplinary team in alignment with PrairieCare's treatment programs and core philosophy.
  • Ensures the provision of high-quality care to adults, adolescents, children, and their families dealing with psychiatric and substance use disorders, in accordance with granted Medical Staff privileges.
  • Services may be provided in various settings, partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient, outpatient programs.
  • Familiarizes oneself with available follow-up resource services for adults, adolescents, and children.
  • Conducts individual and family therapy sessions.

Qualifications

  • Must hold a valid medical license from the State of Minnesota.
  • Completion of an accredited Postgraduate Training Residency is required.
  • Must be Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry.
  • Ability to maintain necessary medical staff privileges and malpractice insurance.
  • Strong knowledge of psychiatric disorders in adults, adolescents, and children, as well as advanced principles of abnormal psychology.
  • Capable of handling sensitive information with strict confidentiality.
  • Proficient in summarizing relevant clinical information through written communication and medical documentation.
  • Competent in using Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook.
  • Able to navigate and utilize the intranet site as needed.
  • Skilled at transitioning smoothly and quickly between different tasks.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to respond swiftly and calmly as part of a team in volatile or emergency situations.
  • Capable of making sound decisions under stress.
  • After training, must be able to manage disruptive and aggressive patients.
  • DEA registration is required.

Pay range for this position is $300,000 to $325,000 depending on education and experience.
