Position Highlights |
Scientific software engineering and data processing skills to develop and operate software systems for science data processing and analysis for space missions. Strives to bring creative and innovative ideas to solve exciting problems. Responsible for the development of data analysis and visualization tools, implementation of scientific processing algorithms, data processing and data analysis, maintenance of existing systems, and dissemination of scientific data. Collaborates with scientists, mission operators, engineers, students, and other colleagues and stakeholders. Duties & Responsibilities |
- Manage data in secure cloud servers so that they are secure and are scalable for the needs of the team. This must include optimization of the data for ease of access, to include tracking of users and access restrictions on Microsoft 365 Government and the compliance for any TCP's or ITAR requirements for space based missions.
- Oversee the development and implementation of software for processing and analysis of scientific and engineering data from space science missions as we use a variety of languages and both on-premise and Cloud-resident implementations.
- Maintain secure servers housed in the cloud and inside of Steward Observatory, making sure users have access to the servers including CAD servers and Git repositories.
- Develop tools to help combine, extract, and exploit information from data sets.
- Attend meetings to keep up with the development of the project and make sure all objectives are being achieved for both the cloud and local servers for information.

Minimum Qualifications |
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience and a minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- Experience in databases and scripting languages.

Preferred Qualifications |
- BS/BA in computer science.
- AWS or AZURE cloud experience.
- Distributed version control Git experience.
- Scientific computing experience.
- Languages: Python, C, C++, Javascript experience.
- Experience deploying virtual machines or containers.
- Continuous integration and test experience.
- SQL experience.
