Intern - Energy Price Forecasting

Job Description:

We are seeking an Energy Price Forecasting Intern for Hunt Energy Network department located in our Dallas, TX office. This is a paid summer internship opportunity with housing provided if needed.

This project transforms a neural network-based nodal forecasting model into a cloud-service-friendly solution using AWS SageMaker. The goal is to deploy the model on SageMaker to provide scalable, real-time forecasting of Locational Marginal Prices (LMP) and grid status in the ERCOT market. The project involves training the model on SageMaker and leveraging its built-in tools for data preprocessing, model optimization, and deployment. The final solution will enable easy access to forecasts via APIs, enhancing scalability, efficiency, and accessibility for real-time predictions in cloud environments.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and deploy machine learning models for forecasting Locational Marginal Prices (LMP) and grid status using AWS SageMaker.
• Collaborate with teams to optimize models, manage data pipelines, and implement scalable cloud solutions for real-time predictions.

Required Degree Background:

• Rising junior or senior pursuing an undergraduate degree or master's in Computer Science or Data Science.
• Minimum of 3.0 grade point average.

Required Skills/Knowledge:

• Familiarity with cloud services and serverless architecture (e.g., AWS Lambda, Amazon S3).
• Strong knowledge of SQL and experience with data management and querying.

Abilities/Behaviors:

• Self-starter and excellent work ethic.
• Exceptional creativity and the ability to think outside the box.

• Ability to manage multiple tasks and areas of responsibility concurrently.
• Ability to provide academic transcripts.
