Job Description and Duties
Under the direction of the Chief Deputy Director, in the Executive Division (Division) within the Department of Cannabis Control (Department), the Staff Services Manager (SSM) I (Specialist) will provide a high-level expertise and assistance on a wide variety of special projects, strategic planning, and administrative functions. The SSMI must possess a strong ability to write, problem solve, organize, communicate, and manage multiple priorities. The SSMI will coordinate critical projects on behalf of the Division working closely with the Department Deputy Directors to provide guidance and consultation on sensitive projects and complex matters and may represent the Chief Deputy Director in meetings. The SSMI will be responsible for a variety of the most complex, highly sensitive functions including research, policy analysis, office and administrative planning, and preparing or conducting correspondence on behalf of the Director.
The Department licenses and regulates commercial cannabis activity within California to create a sustainable, legal cannabis industry and a safe and equitable marketplace. The Department develops and implements progressive cannabis policies with robust protections for public health, safety, and the environment and is responsible for all statewide policy and procedures impacting licensees, stakeholders, staff, and the public. The Executive provides crucial oversight of the Department's divisions and programs.

Conflict of Interest (COI) - This position is subject to COI Regulations. The incumbent is required to submit a Statement of Economic Interests (Form 700) within 30 days of assuming office, annually by April 1st, and within 30 days of leaving office.
