The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Position Summary

The overall responsibility for inspecting, repairing, and implementing the preventive maintenance for the air conditioning and refrigeration program for the CUMC Campus

Responsibilities



  • Maintain air conditioning and refrigeration equipment.
  • Able to understand an electrical schematic and troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of environmental boxes. Harris boxes with humidification.
  • Repairing of all supplementary A/C equipment such as compressors, fans motors, pumps, condensing units.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and record-keeping on the equipment.
  • Follow applicable department safety policies.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications



  • High school diploma or the equivalent required. Completion of technical or training programs is preferred.



Other Requirements



  • Five to eight years experience in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration.
  • Must have a CFC Universal certified by the EPA. Must have strong working knowledge in troubleshooting.
  • Strong communications and interpersonal skills.
  • Candidate must have a demonstrated knowledge of control systems and able to have the training ability; demonstrate basic writing skill.
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
  • Employees hired after March 26, 1999, will be subject to a four-year wage progression in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement. Application and resume must be up-to-date.

  • According to Columbia University Medical Center policy, the finalist will not start employment until after successful completion of background verification and drug screening. Medical clearance including MMR records and TB testing is required.
