SUMMARY OF POSITION:

The Bulk Material Off-loader supports the production activities of the applicable Chemtall Plant(s) so the plant(s) can produce quality products at the least cost, and consistent with delivery schedules and in compliance to company and government regulations. The Bulk Material Manager and supervisor will determine if an individual is qualified to assume the responsibilities of a Bulk Material Off-loader. Qualification is based on the overall performance of the Bulk Material Off-loader. Competency will be based on verbal discussions and overall performance.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:




  1. Understand offloading procedures at Chemtall. Unload railcars and trucks in a manner that complies with all applicable safety, environmental, and quality standards.
  2. Know how to package products from tankers, storage tanks, etc., when necessary, in their area of operation and into all containers depicted in the order. (Totes, drums, pails).
  3. Assist with documenting and investigating all EHS&S incidents and personnel matters.
  4. Keep orders, hard copies, and checklists organized.
  5. Ability to assist in troubleshooting transfer issues in area of work.
  6. Identify and bring to the supervisor's attention BOL (Bill of Lading), wash-out sheets, and raw material specification (CoA) deviations.
  7. Assists the EHS&S Supervisor in sampling, classifying, tracking, storing, and shipping both hazardous and non-hazardous waste.
  8. Ensure correct samples are pulled and turned in.
  9. Obtain supplies as needed.
  10. Interface with the technical organization to ensure we are operating the process within its technical specifications, implementing effective process improvements, and maintaining the equipment appropriately.
  11. Comply with all safety standards and rules management sets and use the correct protective gear.
  12. Must be able to wear a full-faced respirator for short periods of time. (Must be clean-shaven).
  13. Comply with all environmental regulations:

    • Including, but not limited to:

      • Using proper waste disposal methods
      • Assist with tracking all shipments via manifest copies and databases




  14. Maintain a clean work environment by completing routine and non-routine housekeeping.
  15. Must be able to climb stairs or ladders two and three stories above the ground
  16. Must be able to utilize gangway and mezzanine to perform tasks (i.e. unloading trucks or railcars, setting up to transfer, Using DCS, etc.)
  17. Must be able to walk long distances which may exceed one mile.
  18. Complete routine and non-routine jobs as directed by management.
  19. Complete DOT Class and stay compliant with DOT Standards
  20. Contributing to site security by adhering to all policies outlined in SAF-018.
  21. Supporting the SNF RCMS policy and principles through the effective execution of each program and procedure that affects the continuing safety of each stakeholder, our impact on the environment, and the security of our stakeholders, site, raw materials, and finished products.
  22. Maintaining the confidentiality of the company's products, customers and proprietary information.
  23. Must be able to complete and maintain the following training:

    • DOT - Initial and every 3 years after
    • IMDG- Initial and every 3 years after
    • Fall Protection- Initial and every 3 years after
    • Forklift Certification - Initial and every 3 years after





DEPARTMENT SPECIFIC/NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:



  1. Other duties as assigned with or without accommodation.
  2. Certification in Confined Space Rescue, Hazmat, First responder, and Fire brigade.
  3. Participate in continuous improvement programs.
  4. Attend Safety Meetings, Site Safety Meetings, and Safety Tours.

Requirements

GENERAL SECURITY RESPONSIBILITIES:



  1. Challenge unknown visitors for proper identification.
  2. Question any chemicals in your area that are suspicious or without labels or authorization.
  3. Observe your surroundings, including:



  • Suspicious behavior


  • Individuals loitering or closely observing the facility or employees.


  • Breaches to our facilities such as open gates, broken windows, openings in fences, or locks not working properly. This is a potential sign of possible tampering.



  1. See something, say something. Report to EHS, your manager, or your supervisor if you see or hear anything out of the ordinary or that causes concern. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:




Education required/ preferred:




High School Diploma or GED



Experience:






Preferred Skills/Qualifications:




Prior manufacturing experience.

Prior chemical handling experience.

Understanding of chemical manufacturing and production.

Strong communication skills.

Proven teamwork ability.

Average-above average English and mathematical skills.

Good logical and organizational skills.

Good oral and written communication skills.

Demonstrated ability to work well with others in a team environment with a minimum of supervision.

Demonstrates exceptional ability and willingness to learn, and a good work attitude.
