Interprets, recommends, and complies with environmental, health and safety regulations and/or company policies. Assists in planning for changes in physical facilities to meet new environmental requirements. Finds, evaluates, and prepares contracts for properly licensed hazardous waste disposal firms and monitors waste handling. Organizes and equips spill-control teams. Writes and updates environmental and spill-control manuals and procedures. Prepares environmental impact statements and applies for all new permits and renewals. Provides input to federal and state regulators through trade associations and industry groups for the writing and revision of regulations. This benchmark code is intended for job classifications that have supervisory/management responsibilities over more than functional
area in this job family, or over the entire job family.
The HSE Manager will actively engage and involve employees at all levels to drive a culture of safety through accountability, commitment, and teamwork. Working under the direction of the site Operations Leader and working in alignment with the Divisional HSE Steering Team

Managers are responsible for overseeing their work group including but not limited to: formal evaluations/performance management as set out by the organization, recruitment and developing

Primary Responsibilities:


In the performance of their respective tasks and duties all employees are expected to conform to the following values: Safety, Fact Based, Accountable, Respectful, Persistence and Ethical. Put Safety first at all times, never compromise on safety for the obtainment of other objectives. Responsible for health and safety of themselves and coworkers.

  • Working under the direction of the site Operations Leader and working in alignment with the Divisional HSE Steering Team, the HSE Manager will have operations/site HSE functional responsibility for the following:


  • Drive site specific annual safety plan
  • Maintain site HSE Metrics including Regulatory Record Keeping
  • Develop and conduct new hire orientation
  • Develop and deliver employee training (or manage resources to deliver training)
  • Manage (and if applicable conduct) site employee wellness sessions for site
  • Develop and Update safety processes and procedures including PPE requirements
  • Conduct safety and environmental audits and manage resulting action plans
  • Ensure proper Maintaining of SDS and chemical list
  • Case management of work-related injuries and overall "return to work" program
  • Chair safety team meetings and coordinate action plans
  • Manage Contractor/Visitor Safety Compliance
  • Manage successful compliance of powered industrial truck program
  • Manage Hearing Conservation Program
  • Manage Accident Investigation Process and root cause corrective action plans
  • Manage onsite First Aid Responder team, process and supplies
  • Manage vision testing program

Qualifications:




  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety or related field required
  • Minimum of 5 years' HSE related experience in an industrial/mfg environment required
  • Strong OSHA and EPA Regulatory Compliance Knowledge (30 Hour OSHA Card strongly preferred)
  • Employee Wellness Practices/Systems Knowledge
  • First aid/CPR certification
  • Lean Mfg Principles (strongly preferred)
  • Plant Start Up and New Product Introduction safety related experience (strongly preferred)
  • Ability to research regulations
  • Ability to Train
  • Presentation skills
  • Interpersonal Savvy- ability to relate to different types of people
  • MS Office Skills- excel emphasis
  • Written and Verbal Communication Skills
  • Ability to plan and prioritize
  • Ability to follow up and follow through
  • Ability to work in a fast pace environment with a sense of urgency
  • Ability to manage vendors
