Position Purpose: The DC Supervisor directs the daily operations of the warehouse, including freight, shipping and receiving, returns, transfers, and other special projects. This role is responsible for leading and developing the warehouse team, maintaining a high level of accuracy and safety, and promoting a culture that provides best in class service to our customers. In addition, the DC Supervisor will work directly with the DC Manager to provide backup for that position as needed and operate as second in command at our Baytown facility. This is a 100% ONSITE position in Baytown, TX with possibility of some travel to our corporate headquarters in Northbrook, IL or other locations as a company representative.
Duties, Tasks, and Responsibilities:
- Maintain safety standards across warehouse, lead safety committee, and promote a safety-first workplace
- Oversee all warehouse operations and work directly with the DC Manager to facilitate DC needs
- Work in unison with the DC Manager to prioritize facility needs, meet deadlines, and provide customer satisfaction
- Conduct time trial, collect metrics, and manage warehouse optimization projects as needed
- Oversee re-boxing, special labeling, and product testing as assigned by leadership
- Control and manage inventory through system tools and operating procedures
- Supervise warehouse staff including temporary contractors/employers
- Manage workforce scheduling and scaling including temporary contractors/employees
- Proactively maintain housekeeping standards, cleanliness efforts, and overall organization of warehouse
- Assist with general maintenance of machinery and keep record of parts and repairs needed
- Process vendor and inventory information as needed in SAP and additional systems
- Setup Vendors in SAP and other systems
- Generate reports, KPI tracking, and track monthly warehouse expenses
- Lead training initiatives and assist with yearly training modules
- Assist with quarterly and annual review process and help track employee performance metrics
- Investigate customer complaints and assist with gathering information for quality reports
- Act as backup for DC Manager as needed and facilitate projects delegated by DC Manager as needed
- Liaise with corporate operations, transportation and supply chain teams as needed
- Additional projects, time trials, and quoting as assigned
Education, Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
- 5-8 years of experience in a warehouse supervisory role or congruent field
- High School diploma/GED required
- Proven knowledge of warehouse policies and procedures
- Forklift certification and/or ability to successfully complete forklift training
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Impeccable written and verbal communication skills
- Able to work with all levels of staff
