The Retention and Registration Specialist is a vital role focused on supporting university-wide retention initiatives and ensuring the timely, accurate registration of all students. This position is dedicated to fostering a positive and supportive environment that promotes student success, persistence, and engagement across all academic levels and demographics.
This role requires a proactive and data-driven professional capable of designing and implementing innovative retention strategies, streamlining registration processes, and collaborating with stakeholders to enhance the student experience. The Retention and Registration Specialist will play a key role in advancing institutional goals by utilizing best practices and informed decision-making to drive positive outcomes. This role reports to the Executive Director of Advising and Career Readiness.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

- Develop, implement, and assess comprehensive retention strategies that address the needs of students, particularly graduate and adult students.
- Analyze student success trends using platforms like Navigate and other data tools to inform decision-making and improve retention efforts.
- Prepare regular reports on retention analytics, registration trends, and related metrics for leadership review.
- Collaborate with academic advisors, faculty, and other stakeholders to identify and address barriers to registration, student success, and persistence.
- Work closely with academic advising leadership and academic departments to assess seat availability for course registration, facilitating meetings as needed to address course needs.
- Research and integrate best practices in retention to enhance the student experience across the university.
- Develop and lead retention campaigns and outreach to drive the enrollment and re-enrollment of current and stop-out students.
- Streamline and optimize registration processes in coordination with advising leadership, ensuring accessibility and efficiency for all students.
- Serve as a Navigate360 administrator, addressing technical issues, enhancing system functionality, and training faculty on effective system use to support retention initiatives.
- Collaborate with academic departments to identify curriculum and policies impacting registration practices, removing barriers in the advising process.
- Assist in planning and developing new student orientation (ROAR) to meet the needs of prospective students.
- Organize and participate in outreach events, workshops, and information sessions to engage students and address concerns.
- Leverage parent and family outreach to support enrollment and registration initiatives.
- Serve on councils and committees to represent student success and retention efforts.

Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree preferred.
- Experience in higher education administration, particularly in student services and academic advising.
- Proficiency in student information systems and data analysis tools, with familiarity in Navigate360 preferred.
- Strong understanding of student development theories and best practices in retention strategies.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and skilled in project management and problem-solving.
- Ability to learn and adapt to policies, processes, and procedures quickly.
