Summary: The Director of Transportation is responsible for the performance of our brokerage business. This entails growing business with existing and new customers along with ensuring operational excellence and financial performance through our customer service and capacity teams.
What You'll Be Doing:


  • Drive strategy within the department to increase the number of shippers that utilize our services.
  • Set clear roles and responsibilities for the members within the transportation team.
  • Monitor metrics tied to performance and profitability for brokerage business.
  • Promote safety and compliance within the department.
  • Train, develop, and lead a team that fosters collaboration, accountability, and performance.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to create value-added solutions.
  • Partner with sales and marketing teams to achieve revenue growth. Create and support pricing strategies, negotiate contracts, and contribute to sales efforts, including new account development and CRM record-keeping.
  • Develop and manage the annual budget, implementing controls to maintain service levels, operational efficiency, and profitability.
  • Minimal travel to meet with partner carriers and customers to maintain and building relationships.
  • Stay up to date on current trends within the industry.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.



What You Need:
A. Education: Bachelor's degree in a related field and/or 5+ years of transportation brokerage.
B. Experience: Minimum 5 years experience in transportation and supply chain-related
C. Knowledge/Experience/Skills:


  • Experience in logistics management, as well as general management experience.
  • An energetic, forward-thinking, and creative individual with high ethical standards and an appropriate professional image.
  • Familiarity with transportation management systems is required. Skills in planning, staffing, budgeting, organizing, controlling, and communicating are required. The ability to develop effective customer and carrier relationships is critical.
  • Proven ability to develop and maintain successful customer relationships
  • Ability to make timely and professional decisions, plus analytical, initiative, and problem-solving abilities, multitasking, prioritizing, and managing time effectively
  • Must have good people skills and work effectively in a team environment

Physical Demands and Work Environment:
* Work in a climate-controlled office environment
* Use hands and fingers for keyboard and computer input
* Use eyes, ears, and voice to see, hear, and speak on the telephone and to others.
