We are seeking an advanced and experienced Sr. Cost Engineer to join our team. Reporting to a Group Negotiator, you work an onsite or hybrid schedule daily in East Aurora, NY (Buffalo area). Alternatively, this position could work out of our Gilbert, AZ; Arvada, CO; or Salt Lake City, UT locations.

As a Sr. Cost Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in developing, analyzing, evaluating, coordinating, preparing, and supporting cost proposals to both government and commercial customers. You will ensure compliance with customer specifications, Moog's policies and procedures, and federal regulations (FAR). This position requires advanced knowledge of cost engineering and the ability to handle moderately complex projects, processes, and programs.

As a Sr. Cost Engineer, you will:

  • Act as a key leader of the proposal team(s) and build pricing models based on RFP and Moog requirements.
  • Develop, analyze, evaluate, coordinate, prepare, and support cost proposals.
  • Review Requests for Proposals (RFP) and proposal documents for compliance with customer specifications and company policy.
  • Ensure Moog Estimating System compliance and provide interpretation of RFP requirements.
  • Interact with personnel and management at all levels; interface and coordinate with other business management personnel on a daily basis.
  • Provide reviews of all estimates prior to delivery and review by senior management.
  • Prepare and present cost estimates to management, customer representatives, and government audit agencies.
  • Ensure adherence to Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), Truth in Negotiations Act (TINA), and Moog policies and procedures regarding cost proposal preparation, review, compliance, submission, updates/revisions, and negotiations.
  • Support audit requests, fact-finding, and negotiation discussions and the program budget baseline process.
  • Create/administer pricing databases and coordinate implementation of pricing proposals across the organization.
  • Mentor and review the work of lower-level roles.

Here's what you will need to bring with you:

  • Associates or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Ideally 5 years of relevant experience in cost engineering or a related field.
  • Advanced knowledge of cost engineering principles and practices.
  • Pricing, Sales and/or Contracts Related Experience
  • Strong understanding of Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) and Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS), Truth in Negotiations Act (TINA) and Cost Accounting Standards (CAS).
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to access U.S. export-controlled information

  • A background in manufacturing engineering, engineering or assembly and test.

Salary Range Transparency:

Buffalo, NY $90,000.00-$120,000.00 Annually

The base salary range represents the low and high end of the Moog salary range for this position in the given work location. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range(s) listed is just one component of Moog's total compensation package for employees.
