City/State Norfolk, VA Overview Work Shift First (Days) (United States of America) Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, VA is hiring a Molecular Diagnostic Scientist tech to work full-time day shifts (1000-1830) in Molecular Diagnostics. Sign on bonus up to $20,000 for qualified candidates! Job duty is to perform molecular microbiology and molecular pathology based laboratory tests; utilize critical thinking skills to interpret complex test results; document and report test results; maintain equipment, instruments, and tools. Understands the molecular laboratory workflow and contamination risks. Communicates clearly with pathologists and physicians. Demonstrates fiscal responsibility with regard to reagent and consumable usage. Strong time management skills are necessary to effectively complete workload. Bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical or biological science or medical technology from an accredited institution. Certified or certification eligible as a Medical Laboratory Scientist or Molecular Biology Technologist with American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP), or a Medical Technologist with American Medical Technologists (AMT). Molecular Biology specialty required within one year of employment. Proof of eligibility required prior to date of employment. Certification for eligible employees must be acquired within one year from date of hire. Certification must remain current for continued employment.
