Mass General Brigham (MGB) International Patient Services represents a systemwide initiative to provide leading clinical care to patients from around the country and around the world. This exciting business initiative combines a broad set of existing capabilities, with a new focus on patient access. With a significant investment in this program, MGB plans to enhance patient experience by developing and improving the services offered to destination patients and driving broad-based business growth.
At Mass General Brigham we are dedicated to transforming healthcare and improving patient outcomes on a global scale. We operate an international patient referral program that connects patients in need with world-class medical providers and facilities.
As the Senior Director of Global Initiatives, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the success and satisfaction of our valued customers, while fostering meaningful partnerships within our healthcare system and the medical community across the globe.

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, business, healthcare, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in a similar role within the healthcare industry, preferably in an international setting.

  • Superior writing skills

  • Strong understanding of medical specialties, patient referral processes, and international healthcare systems.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with diverse stakeholders.

  • Demonstrated experience in event planning and execution.

  • Proven track record of developing successful partnerships and managing customer relationships.

  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.

  • Proficiency in English; knowledge of additional languages such as Spanish is a plus.

  • Willingness to travel internationally as needed.

General Oversight:

  • Take a leadership role over the LATAM, Canada and Bermuda Markets

  • Oversee all aspects of country representatives and contractors, including professional development, performance management

  • In close collaboration with hospital-based roles, co-creates and coordinates the implementation of a program for high value sourcing leads and business development support from MGB internal employees.

  • Coordinates and collaborates closely with other MGB internationally relevant activities that reside outside of the MGB Global Services division such as marketing and communications

  • In close collaboration with Contracting, sources, implements, and manages strategic partnerships with external parties that help MGB Global Services achieve its strategic goals, e.g.:

  • Payers (commercial, government entities), Hospitals, individual referring physicians, employers, investors, other professional service firms, international operators

  • Works hand in glove with hospital-based clinical operations to ensure smooth hand-offs from sales/BD to operations, delivering outstanding customer service at all touchpoints to external referring entities

  • In close collaboration with the international marketing group, and contracted interntional agencies, delivers professional, externally facing documents, proposals, contracts, etc.

  • Salesforce tracking, reporting, and analytics in support of overall performance of MGB GlobalServices.

Communications:

  • Take the lead in developing a regular newsletter content highlighting system innovation, compelling science and outcomes, and patient testimonials

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather information, create important content, and ensure consistent messaging that aligns with the company's mission and values.

  • Drive engagement and understanding among internal stakeholders regarding program updates, success stories, and industry developments.

Speaker Series Development:

  • Collaborate with internal teams to organize and promote educational and scientific events, ensuring their effectiveness in promoting clinical excellence and fostering collaboration among healthcare providers and subject matter experts

Conference Planning and Attendance:

  • Identify relevant conferences for participation, considering their strategic importance and potential networking opportunities

  • Develop a comprehensive calendar of conferences, workshops, and industry events related to various clinical specialties.

  • Coordinate the attendance of our medical experts, ensuring their availability, travel arrangements, and conference materials.

Partnership Development:

  • Proactively help build field team nurture relationships with medical providers, hospitals, clinics, and other healthcare organizations.

  • Identify key stakeholders and decision-makers, and develop targeted strategies to establish long-lasting partnerships.

  • Collaborate with the business development and operations teams to negotiate partnership agreements and ensure mutually beneficial outcomes.

Leadership & Relationship Management:

The Director will support collaboration across multiple dimensions:

  • Intradepartmental: Facilitates collaboration across various teams internal to the department, in close coordination with hospital-based operations.

  • Interdepartmental: Oversees the department's relationship with other key groups within the MGB System.

  • Cross-entity: Supports MGB-wide initiatives for cross-entity collaborations, building relationships and trust inter-organizationally at both the MGB and hospital levels, and developing collaboration standards and best practice

Employs tact, discretion, and appropriate influence when working with all levels of the institution to drive project and organizational goals forward. Participates and provides information for boards and steering committees, as requested. Acts on behalf of department senior leadership when needed. Strategic and operational oversight of department activities, particularly to ensure alignment with institutional goals.

Special Projects

Completes or manages special projects for senior leadership to promote strategic initiatives both internal and external to the department.

  • Technical - ability to understand and use multiple software programs

Supervisory Responsibility:

  • Up to 5 employees

Fiscal Responsibility:

  • Recommending suggestions for financial performance improvement where applicable. Able to contribute to the development of financial proposals for given initiatives.
