Digital Communications Strategist
Job Summary Please note: The position will be eligible for a hybrid work schedule with onsite work being performed at the UCSF Parnassus Heights campus. 4 days onsite.
The Digital Communications Strategist is responsible for managing UCSF Dentistry's digital presence to increase visibility among key audiences and advance strategic objectives across the research, education, patient care and public service mission areas. The Digital Communications Strategist will bring significant experience conceptualizing, creating, distributing and measuring engaging content across a range of digital channels, including web, social and email. A member of the school's marketing and communications team, they will play a key role in the continuous improvement of UCSF Dentistry's communications and marketing efforts through metrics tracking, exploration of new technologies and testing of new digital communication approaches.
The successful candidate will be tech savvy, proactive, curious and analytcial with strong writing skills, attention to detail and creative capabilities. Drawing on their experience in similar roles, they will expertly determine the appropriate mix of content assets, such as feature stories, blogs, graphics, website content, landing pages, video and audio, needed to connect with the target audience and showcase the UCSF Dentistry brand. This role will collaborate with the marketing and communications team, school leadership, academic program partners and campus and health system partners to ensure all campaigns and content are aligned with strategic priorities, on-brand, and optimized for audience engagement.
Candidates will be asked to demonstrate a track record in developing successful digital strategies, provide content examples and complete an assignment as part of the interview process. The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement. The salary range for this position is $98,300 - $154,300 (Annual Rate). Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training
- Minimum 5+ years of related experience
- Minimum 6-8 years of experience in communications, marketing or related role
- Minimum 5 years of experience in content strategy, development and optimization
- Minimum 3 years of experience using social media platforms and related tools to deploy, track and measure content, expand reach and engage audiences
- Advanced skills to create clear, easy-to-navigate, informative, accurate, well-designed, and functional web sites that provide web content consistent with the school's message and in keeping with strategic objectives.
- Advanced technical skills in applications for web production, image handling, publishing and design, illustration, presentation preparation, animation, video, and / or other state-of-the-art digital communication capabilities. Advanced graphic design skills and experience with Adobe Premiere, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and other common tools of the trade
- Advanced knowledge of content management systems and / or relevant web applications used for web production, including Drupal and WordPress
- Thorough knowledge of the fundamentals of design and user experience, including skill to design in an appealing, lively and relevant way
- Thorough understanding of technical language and requirements of the assigned work
- Strong grasp on emerging trends in digital communications and marketing, including new approaches, tools and applications
- Thorough understanding of optimal processes, best practices, and applicable rules and regulations for digital communications
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills
- Thorough skills to develop and implement original ideas and correctly identify and effectively solve problems
- Excellent written, verbal, active listening and political acumen skills
- Excellent analytical, critical thinking, project management, and problem recognition, avoidance, and resolution skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in academic health, health care, higher education or non-profit sectors
