Occupational Summary

Works collaboratively with Northside Hospital Leadership to administer and coordinate all operations in order to achieve and maintain clinical quality, financial viability, patient and visitor safety as well as service excellence and customer satisfaction. Responsible for the day to day operations and supervision of Cardiac Anesthesia Physician Practice and all its employees. Responsible for the coordination of all practice services including but not limited to scheduling, billing, chart management, any procedures and/or other functions. Is responsible for ensuring compliance with departmental operational goals.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Evaluates, identifies and makes changes in daily operations which include: adjusting staffing, use of resources and materials, priority setting and patient services to enhance the services within the practice.
  2. Implements, interprets, and ensures hospital and division philosophy, policies, procedures, and established standards of care and practice are followed. Ensures consistency of clinical practice documents and hospital-wide policies with recognized regulatory and specialty standards. Adheres to all recommendations of regulatory bodies.
  3. In conjunction with the Physicians, Administration and staff, ensures clinical and operational guidelines are established to ensure high quality care. Works in collaboration with the Hospital and NHHI Administration to manage resources in order to meet budget expectations. Able to explain and justify variances from budget. Assists in the assembly of the operational and capital budgets which accurately reflect the financial and operational needs of the practice.
  4. Collaborates with Administration and consulting services to develop strategies to expand and support growth of the NHHI Service line. Actively seeks out and reports opportunities for additional revenue, improved workflow and efficiencies. Consistently exhibits good customer service skills in all interactions with staff, patients and families. Establishes this as an expectation of all staff and actively monitors compliance with this expectation. Coordinates Employee Service Excellence activities.
  5. Works closely with the Administration to manage the revenue cycle; including insurance verification and authorization, charge capture and reconciliation, collections, internal controls, coding, and denial monitoring.
  6. Works proactively with Business Office to manage/reduce denials.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES/LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIRED

  1. High School Degree or Equivalent
  2. Three (3) years of leadership experience in business, nursing, or healthcare related field OR

Bachelor's Degree in a related field and 1 year of leadership experience in business, nursing or health care related field.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES/LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION PREFERRED

  1. Bachelor's degree in business administration, healthcare administration or related field
  2. Physician practice or other ambulatory care setting management experience.
  3. Computer knowledge experience with Microsoft Office Suite; Implementation and maintenance of an electronic medical record.
  4. Demonstrated ability to set priorities, coordinate diversified and multiple activities, and make appropriate clinical and managerial decisions.
  5. Possess advanced problem solving and team building skills.
  6. Possess excellent communication and customer service skills.
