JOB DUTIES
- The Program Manager may perform some or all the following under the general direction of the Associate Chief Nursing Officer, Magnet Program and Nursing Research Department Director/Manager, or designee, and in collaboration with various department leadership and stakeholders:
- Supports and provides leadership to sustain the Magnet culture by promoting professional shared governance, professional practice, transformational leadership, effective communication, meaningful recognition, safety, quality, well-being, and continuous professional development.
- Maintains current knowledge of Magnet designation requirements and processes, assists with achievement of organizational goals; understands and communicates regarding data and organizational outcomes with particular focus on nurse sensitive quality indicators and patient experience data.
- Participates in planning and leading the Magnet Program Steering Committee and Magnet Champions Committee meetings; leads subgroups of the Magnet Program Steering Committee; provides guidance and support of the re-designation process; plans, organizes, guides activities and projects that support the ANCC Magnet Recognition Program requirements.
- Develops and facilitates programs identified to improve employee relations, teamwork, communication, and decision making. Administers, coordinates, plans, and executes Nursing Rewards & Recognition Programs including, but not limited to the Daisy Program, Certified Nurses Day, Nurses Week, Great 100 Nurses, D Magazine, Nominations Committee, Rory Meyers Scholarship, Nursing Excellence newsletter, Nursing Annual Report and other nursing activities, events, or programs.
- Supports Magnet Committee(s). Implements and facilitates shared governance/shared decision making within nursing services and consults on professional practice activities across the organization.
- Participates in development, implementation, and evaluation of performance improvement activities. Guides appropriate changes related to the Magnet standards and sources of evidence. Coordinates Magnet education and staff development. Serves as a resource, under the guidance of the Director of the Magnet Program and Nursing Research Department, regarding Magnet standards.
- Facilitates and educates staff toward a culture of evidence-based practice and continuous quality improvement. Assists staff in disseminating evidence through local, regional, national, and international presentations and peer-reviewed journals.
- Coordinates special projects, which may include educational activities and research projects, that advance Magnet principles throughout the organization. Supports department evidence-based practice activities with providing guidance in research, planning, and implementation. Promotes personal and professional growth of all nursing personnel.
- Coordinates the Magnet application, document, designation, biannual reports, and redesignation. Assists with the collection, preparation, and submission of the written document in fulfillment of the Magnet designation timeline and requirements.
- Facilitates and coordinates the nurse satisfaction survey; monitors and reports the survey results and identifies at risk areas; works with department leaders to develop appropriate action plans.
- Outreaches with staff and nursing across the Health System; advises on and contributes written and digital communications. Partners with Health System communications team and cross-functional internal customers on comprehensive communications and/or major announcements, promoted across multiple platforms.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
