Job Description

Radiation Therapy Technologist (Part-Time, 0.25 FTE) - VA Long Beach Healthcare System

Spectrum Healthcare Resources is excited to announce a potential opportunity for a Radiation Therapy Technologist to join our team in supporting Radiation Oncology Services at the Tibor Rubin VA Medical Center, Long Beach, CA.

Requirements:
    Graduate of an approved Therapeutic Radiologic Technology program, evidenced by a certificate or associate degree accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT).
  • Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Radiation Therapy (T).
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience in the following areas:
    • Knowledge of radiation oncology treatment machines and equipment.
    • Delivery of therapeutic radiation for cancer and abnormal cell growth treatments.
    • Performing 3D-Conformal Radiation Therapy (3D-CRT), Intensity-Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT), and Image-Guided Radiation Therapy (IGRT).
    • Ability to generate radiation dose distribution and dose calculations in collaboration with medical physicists and radiation oncologists.
  • Strong understanding of radiation safety protocols, patient positioning, and treatment verification procedures.
  • Proficiency in medical record documentation and compliance with HIPAA and VA guidelines.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Operate radiation therapy equipment to accurately deliver prescribed therapeutic radiation treatments.
  • Ensure correct patient positioning, alignment, and immobilization for safe and effective radiation therapy.
  • Monitor patients' reactions to treatment and report any adverse effects to the radiation oncologist or medical physicist.
  • Conduct quality assurance checks to ensure equipment is functioning correctly and safely.
  • Assist in the implementation of treatment plans by verifying imaging and radiation delivery settings.
  • Collaborate with radiation oncologists, medical physicists, and dosimetrists to ensure precision in treatment delivery.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and ensure compliance with VA Long Beach Healthcare System policies.
  • Follow all applicable safety and infection control protocols, ensuring patient and staff protection from unnecessary radiation exposure.
Work Schedule & Hours:
  • Part-Time Position (0.25 FTE) - 10 Hours Per Week
  • Workdays: Monday through Friday, excluding federal holidays.
  • Shifts: 8-hour shifts within standard duty hours of 7:30 AM - 4:30 PM (local time zone), flexible scheduling possible based on operational needs.
