Position Summary

The Vice Provost position reports to the Provost and assists with all matters of academic administration, policy, and planning and leads campus-wide initiatives at the direction of the Provost. The Vice Provost will provide leadership, advocacy, coordination, and recommendations for academic and non-academic initiatives supporting student success and persistence at Lipscomb University.

The Vice Provost works closely with a wide range of university stakeholders and units reporting to the Provost. The Vice Provost advises the Provost on a number of key academic appointments and appeals processes, promotion and tenure, retention, and related issues. This position will also work closely with administrators and staff in Student Affairs, Enrollment Management, Institutional Research, and Analytics, and other units actively engaged in research and assessment of student retention initiatives and intervention opportunities enhancing student persistence toward graduation.

Responsibilities:



  1. Leadership responsibilities related to cultivating a collaborative and future-focused/solutions-oriented approach to academics and the provost's office as determined by the Provost.
  2. Monitor the success of the Journey Lipscomb Core curriculum in achieving student learning outcomes.
  3. Monitor the success of the graduate education programs and support the continuous improvement of graduate programming and student support.
  4. Support and monitor continuous improvement of all academic programs through annual program review processes.
  5. Leads regarding strategy, policies, and practices related to integrating online learning into the university academic programming as a whole to create a hybrid campus model to support student success.
  6. Support retention efforts and provide leadership to direct reports to ensure these programs and centers are providing high-quality support to relevant student populations.
  7. Support the Provost's Office broad collaboration to promote student success across the university. Forge partnerships with key academic units so the office can undertake the work necessary to support student success.
  8. Support the planning of future student success initiatives and academic programs.


Qualifications:



  • Doctoral degree from an accredited university
  • Tenure or teaching, scholarship and service portfolio eligible for tenure
  • Leadership experience in university academic administration, including managing multiple direct reports
  • Demonstrated understanding of university-level operations
  • Experience successfully developing and implementing new academic programs, and experience assessing, reporting and identifying opportunities for improvement
  • Demonstrated ability to work with campus partners to successfully implement change
