Responsibilities

Job Summary
Provides operational leadership and management for the Honor Health network Stroke program. Develops, implements, manages, and maintains all primary and future comprehensive Honor health network locations according to accreditation standards and strategic direction of Honor Health network. Responsible for obtaining and growing regulatory and stroke certification and designation throughout the network locations. Will formally report as the Stroke program representative of HonorHealth to hospital and community/state committees and boards as needed to ensure and facilitate communication and progress with in the HonorHealth network stroke program. The network manager will collaborate across all network locations for standardization to implement changes that increase efficiencies to improve patient outcomes, decrease supply cost while driving quality and initiatives.
In addition will act as the stroke expert and primary point of contact related to daily operations, personnel supervision, a resource to professional staff personally providing stroke education to physicians, nursing, allied health personnel /EMS across all network locations and surrounding communities.
Responsible for the productivity and effectiveness of network stroke coordinators in relation to set standards for education, patient data monitoring, site specific communication and reporting. Along with ensuring that any change and improvement processes that are implemented are followed and relayed to the stroke coordinator. Will ensure that communication and patient data is accessible to all stroke coordinators. Will complete required annual evaluations of designated stroke coordinators with in the HonorHealth network.

All RN staff who have direct responsibility for the care of stroke patients must have knowledge of:
* Stroke symptoms and warning signs
* Protocols and pathways used to identify, evaluate and management of stroke patients
* NIHSS and Modified Rankin Stroke scales
* Stroke Alert activation and protocol
* Stoke quality indicators
* Available stroke patient education materials and community resources
* Educational requirements
* Stroke Center website resources

  • Monitors patient outcome data within the stroke network program to identify and act upon opportunities to innovate improvement process and systems. Works with physician groups, allied health, and hospital staff to ensure metrics of the program are being met. Ensures processes and procedures throughout all HonorHealth network locations are in compliance with regulatory bodies and align to the industry standards of care. Stays up-to-date with latest industry and market trends as it relates to the treatment of Stroke.
  • Provides leadership in the development and expansion of new stroke programs, and support the existing programs to ensure patients have access to stroke care. Implements initiatives and facilitates change to enhance the patient experience throughout the continuum of care. Develops and supports Centers of Excellence, and other program certifications, accreditations and distinctions within the stroke program. Develops and implements short and long term goals and strategies that advance the network stroke program.
  • Serve as a resource to others, including staff, patients, families, caregivers, physicians, and visitors. Continues to develop and strengthen the HonorHealth stroke program within the network related for stroke care. Acts as a positive representative of the Neurosciences Service Line internally and externally through participation on various stroke conferences, committees, professional associations and symposiums at the hospital, state and national level.
  • Provides leadership and mentoring to stroke coordinators that are located at all HonorHealth network locations. Ensures adequate staffing, inclusive of hiring/on-boarding, evaluating, ensuring employee productivity and effectiveness. Ensure compliance with all policies, financial stewardship by being accountable for the financial integrity around development and maintenance of department budget. Provide clear goals and expectations related to program performance, team performance and individual performance. Provides resources and stroke expertise to a multidisciplinary staff to ensure that all individuals are meeting the short and long term stroke program goals, while supporting the mission, vision, and values of the organization. Serves as the liaison between departments, facilities, physicians, and staff meeting regularly with hospital management to facilitate communication of a well-coordinated program. Provides provisions for when stroke coordinators are unavailable at site locations during regular assigned business hours to answer questions, concerns or urgent needs related to stroke program processes.
  • Leads the annual stroke accreditation survey across the network, assisting Stroke coordinators with their individual site audits as needed. Lead the effort to create and implement corrective action plans to respond to stroke accreditation survey findings.

Qualifications

Education
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN). All staff who have direct responsibility for the care of stroke patients, please refer to the addendum for stroke specific education requirements. Required

Experience
5 years in a stroke related role 2 years of leadership experience Required

Licenses and Certifications
Nursing\RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure And/Or Compact State Licensure Current and valid state of Arizona Required
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) training course C. Required
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification in Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) training course. Within 6 months of hire Required
Stoke Certified RN (SCRN) Certification - Within One year of hire into manager position Required
