SURGICAL PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT

We are currently seeking aSurgicalPhysician Assistantto join our team at theDepartment of Cardio Thoracic Surgery. The Surgical PA will be collaborating with physicians and other healthcare providers. The Surgical PA obtains medical histories, performs physical examinations, orders and interprets diagnostic tests, and determines preliminary diagnoses. Provides surgical assistance to medical staff.

The practice of a Surgical Physician Assistant shall include medical services within the education, training and experience of the physician assistant that are delegated by the supervising physician. Medical services rendered by physician assistants may include, but are not limited to, obtaining patient histories and performing physical examinations; ordering and/or performing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures; formulating a diagnosis; developing and implementing a treatment plan; monitoring the effectiveness of therapeutic interventions; assisting at surgery; offering counseling and education to meet patient needs; making appropriate referrals.

SurgicalPhysician Assistants, in an emergency, shall be authorized to treat any medical disease and/or perform any medical and surgical procedures at the hospital for affiliates. An emergency, for these purposed, is defined as a situation in which any delay in administering treatment would result in serious harm to the patient or an immediate threat to life of the patient and that a qualified practitioner is not immediately available.

Education/Skills required:

Bachelor's degree required from an ARC-PA accredited Physician Assistant program; Master's degree preferred.

2 years CT surgery experience preferred, but new-grads welcome to apply.

Licensed as a Physician Assistant in New York State.

NCCPA certified.

Schedule: Rotating shifts days, nights, weekends, holidays.

Shifts: Three 12.5-hr shifts per week/ 6 shifts per (2wk) pay period.
