Job Summary
- Interrogate and program pacemakers (collectively ICDs, Bi-Ventricular pacemakers, Halter monitors, and loop recorders) for clinic patients.
- Complete remote interrogation of pacemakers: reports and forward to the cardiologist.
- Process wearable cardiac defibrillator remote transmissions and forward report to the cardiologist team.
- Provide coverage as needed to all pacemaker clinic locations including rural clinics, which might involve operating a motor vehicle.
- Recognize abnormalities, malfunctions and end of service indications; notify cardiologist and assist in scheduling patients for follow-up or replacement.
- Work Effectively with Hospital and Cardiologists and Office Staff.
- Assumes responsibility for continued professional growth and development and continuing self-
improvement.
Qualifications
Education
- Associates degree in a healthcare field minimum or a degree may be substituted with 5 years direct (CIED) Cardiovascular Implantable Electronic Device experience. Graduate of an accredited paramedic, electrophysiology, or registered nurse program preferred.
- A strong candidate would be a graduate from a Cardiovascular Electrophysiology Program.
- Examples of Education/Certifications: Certified Cardiographer Technician (CCT) with the Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI); Certified Rhythm Analysis Technician (CRAT) with the Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI)
Experience
- Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience in cardiology or electrophysiology.
- Past experience with interrogation and programming pacemakers, recorders or ICD is preferred.
Licensure/Certification
- BLS and ALS certification required within 3 months of hire.
Other Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Knowledge billing and scheduling systems.
- Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files, records and other office procedures and terminology.
- Skill in operating a multi phone line system, computer, photocopy machine, and fax machine.
- Ability to speak clearly and concisely, read understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Compensation/Benefits
- $24.75-$40.42/hr depending on previous work experience.
