Job Summary

The Community Engagement and Action Coordinator will play a central role in organizing and nurturing the evolution of post-Network class initiatives in Network Nation. The position will work directly with and be supervised by the Director of Training and Engagement and lead a dedicated team of Network alumni and leaders in creating joyful programming and actions that build on the foundation laid by the Network curriculum. They will develop engaging community events and trainings that resonate with members and guide action campaigns to address member-identified social issues. We are looking for a team member who can genuinely connect with people and has remained hopeful about the social issues they are passionate about changing. The ideal candidate brings the playfulness and enthusiasm of a camp counselor, paired with the tactical experience and strategic mindset of an organizer. This person is approachable, fun, and committed to fostering tangible change through both personal engagement and community action. The coordinator will collaborate with Network leadership in the strategic planning process for both new and ongoing initiatives.

Essential Functions



  • Plan and implement community events and Network reunions, addressing topics relevant to all Network audiences, alongside the Community Engagement Specialist and Network Nation Assistant Coordinate Network Advisor Team meetings and programs Manage administrative tasks for post-class Network member engagement.
  • Work with Network Nation Advisors and Center staff to advance advocacy initiatives by organizing direct meetings with policy makers and developing op-eds, policy briefs, and other publications Guide implementation of the Network member-led collective action campaigns.
  • Train Network Nation Advisors on recruitment, facilitation, public speaking, professional practices, advocacy, and grassroots social action Partner with the Director of Training and Engagement to promote trauma-informed, healing-centered trainings and support Network leaders in facilitating and speaking at these trainings.
  • Collaborate with Center and Network Nation leadership to integrate Network members and community engagement seamlessly into the Center's organizational structure.
  • Attend professional development trainings, as identified Participate in Center staff meetings, strategic planning, and other initiatives, as needed.


Required Qualifications



  • Minimum of Bachelor's Degree in or the equivalent combination of education and work experience.

  • Minimum of 2-3 yrs in Program Coordination, 1-2 years experience organizing grassroots social action campaigns, including issue development, tactical implementation, and outcome evaluation.
  • Experience as an educator, coach, mentor, or facilitator.
  • Experience planning events and trainings.
  • Familiarity with trauma-informed approaches.
  • Ability to facilitate discussions with enthusiasm and create meaningful connections in a group environment.
  • High emotional intelligence with comfort in discussing emotions and fostering open dialogue.
  • Strong public speaking, written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Demonstrated commitment to equity and experience working with historically, persistently, and/or systemically marginalized communities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Software (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook)
  • Flexibility to work non-traditional hours, including evenings.
  • Good sense of humor and positive attitude


Preferred Qualifications



  • Bilingual (Spanish/English)
  • Certification in trauma-informed, healing-centered facilitation or practices

Additional Information
This position is classified as Non-Exempt, grade H. Compensation for this grade ranges from $ 17.14 to $$ 25.71 per hour. Please note that the offered rate for this position typically aligns with the minimum to midrange of this grade, but it can vary based on the successful candidate's qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
