Job Summary:

The School of Medicine and Public Health (SMPH) facilities unit supports and maintains SMPH facilities with service providers at UW-Madison, UW Health, and leased facilities.

Under the direction of the SMPH Facilities Associate Director (AD), this position will be responsible for coordinating and executing shipping and mail services at the Health Sciences Learning Center, Medical Foundation Centennial Buildings, Wisconsin Institute for Medical Research, the Medical Science Building, or other SMPH locations. These services include inventory management and distribution, mail and package receipt and delivery, and shipping and/or delivery of packages dock for all facilities, jobs, and service requests.

The incumbent will collaborate with UW-Madison, UW Health, and leased space owners to provide facilities mail and loading dock services. They will also support other facilities staff such as the AD and SMPH Facilities Coordinators working on projects in SMPH locations, and collaborate with student labor assigned to those locations.


Responsibilities:
Coordinates and executes shipping and mail services for a unit including inventory management and distribution, mail and package receipt and delivery, and shipping and/or delivery of packages.

  • 60% Oversees incoming and outgoing shipments. Responsible for inventory management and distribution, mail and package receipt and delivery, and shipping and/or delivery of packages and freight
  • 5% Maintains records and manifests regarding incoming packages, location, and date of delivery
  • 5% Determines policies and procedures related to mail and package receipt and delivery
  • 5% Compares identifying information and counts, weighs or measures items outgoing or incoming shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, packing slips, address labels and other records
  • 5% Utilizes standard machinery and equipment to load, unload, and transport freight and materials
  • 5% Troubleshoots shipping issues and customer complaints
  • 15% Coordination of student help in respective SMPH managed buildings

Qualifications:

Required:
1. Minimum of 2 years experience working in a team environment
2. Ability to lift 30-50 lbs.
3. Ability to walk/stand 4+ hours per day
4. Ability to use an electric and manual pallet jack.
5. Skill and commitment to providing quality customer service
6. Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently and in a team setting

Preferred:
1. Experience working in an educational, outpatient clinical, teaching, or research facilities environments
2. Ability to interact with and manage complex sequential work requests with multiple stakeholders


Work Schedule:

This position will work Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. at a designated SMPH building

It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.

The starting salary for the position is $20.66 per hour but is negotiable based on experience and qualifications.

Additional Information:
