The UMKC Support Services department is looking for an IT Supervisor to support and manage campus computer labs. This professional supervisory position is part of a team that oversees 30-40 student workers who provide front-line customer support and basic technical troubleshooting in nine general and departmental computer labs located on UMKC's Volker and Hospital Hill campuses. The lab management team is also responsible for maintaining excellent lab environments, inventory tracking and upkeep, and effectively communicating with a broad base of customers in complex and varied situations.

Job Description

Work includes a wide range of responsibility in providing excellent lab experiences:

* Hiring and training student employees

* Scheduling student employees in computer lab sites

* Tracking and maintaining lab supplies

* Monitoring student employees and work performance

* Managing payroll for student employees

* Communicating useful information to employees and clients through web pages, email, and lab signs that showcase the resources available in the labs

* Serving as a technical resource for students, faculty, and staff

Shift

Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. This position will be primarily on-site working with the students and computer labs. There is the potential for limited hybrid after initial training.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

* A bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Management of Information Systems, Human Resource Management or a related area, or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities can be acquired is necessary

* Must have excellent time management and project management skills

* Strong customer service skills are required

* Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills

* Ability to coordinate, train, supervise and manage the activities of others to accomplish goals

* Must have strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, especially Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Teams

* Experience managing student employees in a higher education environment

* Familiarity with best practices regarding interviewing and hiring employees

* Familiarity with computing equipment, such as Windows PCs, Macintosh PCs, flatbed scanners, and laser printers

* Experience with workstation troubleshooting

Anticipated Hiring Range

$53,000 - $58,000 commensurate with education, experience, and internal equity
