Job Overview

The Director of Social Media Creative will lead the strategic creative direction for all social media channels, overseeing concepting, capture, design, and copywriting. Reporting to senior leadership, this role will be responsible for setting the creative vision, design standards, brand tone, and overall social media identity. The Director will manage a team of photo/video creators, designers and copy writers and will need to drive process, time management, deadlines and accountability across the team. The leader will ensure alignment across disciplines to produce cohesive, on-brand, and performance-driven content. This role demands exceptional leadership, a deep understanding of social media platforms, and a track record of driving innovation in creative execution.

What You Will Do



  • Define and establish the creative vision for social media, aligning with brand objectives and evolving platform trends.
  • Lead the development of a cohesive brand identity across social media channels, including visual design, tone, and storytelling.
  • Set standards for content capture, including talent casting, and editing across all platforms and production
  • Craft social media brand book that can be socialized cross-functional
  • In partnership with department leadership and cross-functional peers including operations, social strategy, influencer and production management design social creative process that ladders into larger organizational content capture process
  • Author quick-turn content process and creative standard for reactionary content needs
  • Partner with cross-functional teams (social strategy, brand strategy, brand creative) to ensure social media creative aligns with broader brand vision.
  • Oversee team of designers, copywriters, and content creators.
  • Set clear expectations, deadlines, and deliverables, fostering accountability and high performance.
  • Provide mentorship, feedback, and growth opportunities for team members.
  • Develop and optimize workflows, processes, and tools to enhance team efficiency and output quality.
  • Establish and maintain high standards for visual design, video content, and copy across all platforms, including Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Pinterest, and Snapchat.
  • Drive innovation by staying ahead of social media trends, ad formats, and creative best practices.
  • Ensure a seamless blend of visuals and copy that reflects the brand's voice and resonates with target audiences.
  • Oversee the creation of engaging, performance-driven content, including feed posts, ad units, short-form video, and real-time event coverage.
  • Lead brainstorming and ideation sessions to inspire innovative concepts and campaigns.
  • Ensure all creative outputs adhere to platform-specific requirements and optimize for engagement and performance.
  • Guide pre-production planning, ensuring alignment with creative briefs and campaign goals.
  • Collaborate with production teams to ensure smooth execution during shoots.
  • Provide direction on set to ensure high-quality content capture, both in stills and video.
  • Collaborate with social strategy and production teams on live event content capture, asset delivery and publishing to ensure quick turns.
  • Partner with social strategy and analytics teams to measure the effectiveness of creative assets and apply learnings to future work.
  • Continuously refine creative approaches based on performance data and audience insights.
  • Foster an environment of acceptance and respect that strengthens relationships, and ensures authentic connections with colleagues, customers, and communities



Skills You Will Need



  • 10+ years of experience in social media creative roles, with at least 5 years managing teams, in retail, fashion, beauty, or eCommerce industries.
  • Proven leadership experience overseeing art directors, designers and copy teams.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in social media content creation, including video, design, motion graphics and copy.
  • Deep understanding of social media platforms, ad formats, and creative best practices. Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, After Effects) and tools like Figma.
  • Experience in content capture using DSLR cameras and iPhones, with knowledge of editing software.
  • Experience in live event coverage from a production, capture and delivery perspective.
  • Exceptional creative vision with a passion for storytelling, design, and innovation.
  • Exceptional leadership, collaboration, and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and guide a creative team.
  • Ability to assign tasks, set clear deadlines and hold team members accountable.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to balance multiple priorities and deliver high-quality work on tight deadlines.
  • Expertise in setting brand tone and visual identity for social media.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to align cross-functional teams and influence stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with paid media strategies and performance-driven creative optimization.
  • Knowledge of emerging social platforms and technologies.



Who You Are



  • Candidates with a Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in a related field are encouraged to apply.
  • Regularly required to sit, talk, hear; use hands/fingers to touch, handle, and feel. Occasionally required to move about the workplace and reach with hands and arms. Requires close vision.
