Job Description

This Omni Care Intern position's focus will be on assisting the catering and conference services team at a resort by supporting event planning, managing food and beverage orders, coordinating with clients, setting up event spaces, and ensuring smooth execution of conferences and large-scale catering events, while gaining hands-on experience in the hospitality industry, always keeping in mind the Power of One. Reports to Senior Catering Manager and Senior Conference Services Managers.



Responsibilities

    Assist the catering and conference services team in creating banquet event orders, diagrams, and resumes for conferences and events based on client needs and budget.
  • Collaborate with the catering and conference services sales team to gather event details and manage client expectations.
  • Assemble and coordinate customer gifts and amenity orders
  • Coordinate with various resort departments like banquets, front office, housekeeping, AV, and maintenance to ensure seamless event setup.
  • Assist with the preparation of site inspections with potential clients, showcasing the resort's catering and conference facilities.
  • Assist in setting up and breaking down event spaces, including tables, chairs, linens, and decor.
  • Monitor event execution, addressing any issues that arise during conferences and catering functions.
  • Attend daily BEO meetings
  • Update and manage catering databases with client information.
  • Assist with creating and updating estimates of charges and invoices for events and conferences
  • Assist with creating contracts for catering events

Learning Objectives:

  • Develop client-facing skills and the ability to manage client expectations.
  • Acquire hands-on experience in coordinating large-scale conferences and catering events.

Qualifications

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality service standards.
  • Basic knowledge of food and beverage service protocols.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and event management software.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, as needed.
  • Must have excellent professional communication skills in English, both verbally and in writing via e-mail, by telephone and in person.
  • Knowledge of computers is essential.
  • Be an empathetic problem solver with excellent relationship building skills.
  • Willingness to learn and take on different projects.
  • Ability to adapt to changing environments.
  • Must be able to walk, sit, stand, squat, and lean during daily business for extended periods of time.
