The MU Student Health Center (SHC) is part of the University of Missouri (MU) -Columbia's Student Health & Well-Being (SHWB) department within Student Affairs. SHWB encompasses a comprehensive network of care, which includes the Counseling Center, Student Health Center, and the Wellness Resource Center, all conveniently located on the campus of the University of Missouri.

The SHC offers a variety of services to support the health and well-being of MU students in our newly renovated "state-of-the-art" clinic space in Pershing Hall. These services include, but are not limited to primary care, reproductive health, travel consultation, on-site psychiatric and mental health services, case management, and an on-site point of care laboratory for quick results. Additionally, SHC administers, monitors, and tracks vaccines to contribute to campus and community wide public health efforts. SHC has a vast network of specialty healthcare providers that we work with to ensure patient receive the best and appropriate care possible for their condition.

Job Description

The Physician Assistant's role is vital in advancing our mission and will involve the following responsibilities:

  • Serve as a consistent and approachable resource for patients, families, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals within your area of expertise.
  • Collaborate with SHC physicians in complex or challenging cases, as outlined in the collaborative agreement.
  • Work collaboratively with healthcare professionals in patient care, ensuring adherence to National, State, and University ethics and laws. Furthermore, complying with SHC standards, policies, procedures, and processes.
  • Conduct thorough health assessments and demonstrate a high degree of autonomy and expertise in diagnosing and treating health issues. Enter into collaborative practice agreements with assigned SHC physician.
  • Effectively and efficiently manage patients within the scope of your credentials by performing physical exams, providing exception and timely documentation in the EHR, ordering and conducting diagnostic tests when appropriate, monitoring patient conditions, lab results, and developing treatment goals.
  • Support efforts of SHC leading to high levels of satisfaction for patients and staff, addressing and resolving any concerns related to the delivery of healthcare services.
  • Complete unit/department-specific duties as assigned by the SHC Medical Director.
  • Communicate clearly, professionally, timely, and with respect for all patients and staff, at all times while working.
  • Foster the goals and values of the SHC while actively contributing to creating a positive and harmonious environment.
Shift

Monday - Friday: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

It is expected that this position will present to SHC at 8:00 AM and work to 5:00 PM, unless otherwise instructed by the Medical Director. Of note, this position may occasionally require evening and weekend hours to support SHC activities and programs. Occasionally, division and campus projects may also require additional hours beyond the regular schedule.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program
  • Must possess or be immediately eligible for Physician Assistant licensure in the State of Missouri.
  • Successful completion of the Physician Assistant National Certifying Examination (PANCE).
  • After initial certification through the PANCE, Physician Assistant must maintain certification by passing the Physician Assistant National Recertifying Exam (PANRE), as appropriate.
Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience working with college students or young adults
  • Additional licensure or certification requirements as determined by SHC
Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary Range: $90,251 - $120,000 with consideration of a recruiting incentive.
