Job Description
Location: New York, NYThe Copy and Production team handles all print and Web production, copy editing, and proofreading for The New Yorker. The Director of Copy and Production will devise, implement, and directly oversee the integration of bifurcated print and Web processes and further the adoption of workflows that prioritize the digital reading experience while maintaining an excellent print product. Overseeing roughly 40 employees, including the Head of Copy, the Director of Production, and the Associate Director of Copy and Production, the Director of Copy and Production is an expert manager who is able to direct large-scale operational changes, identify and deploy new tools and workflows, balance rigor with efficiency, and effectively manage and train employees on new skills and technologies. This process thinker possesses excellent creative and news judgment, strong editorial instincts, visionary leadership skills, and the ability to manage stakeholders with diplomacy and tact. The expected base salary range for this position is from $140,000-$160,000. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including but not limited to relevant skills, training, experience, and education.
