Position Summary

This role provides professional artistic mentorship and support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in a progressive art studio environment. The incumbent works to assist CW participants in the development of their artistic practice and works to integrate the individuals supported with the local community. A commitment to the RHD values should be demonstrated as job duties are performed.

Essential Duties and Functions

Art Instruction

  • Guides artists in art processes, while teaching materials and technique skills.
  • Participates in the creation and development of a curriculum aimed at the education and enrichment of persons served.
  • Teaches professional art making and vocational skills.

Individual Support and Community Integration

  • Works individually, as needed, with individuals served in the removal of barriers to learning and in the enhancement of participation in services.
  • Acts as part of a multidisciplinary team with the goal of providing services that are holistic and values based.
  • Meets, as needed, with the collateral support of the individuals served to provide services in concert with other life goals.
  • brings CCW participants into the community as scheduled for cultural enrichment and inclusion.

Administration

  • Works with the team to create functional aspects of day-to-day processes, as well as attends staff meetings and bi-annual in-service training.
  • Completes all required clinical and administrative documentation in a timely manner to support current and ongoing services.
  • Tracks daily attendance and manages the grouping of staff to facilitate classes and provide support relating to special projects.
  • Collaborates and oversees efficient organization of the studio, classes, supplies and storage, including managing the art studio materials and create inventories, when needed.
  • Assures the health and safety aspects of studio activity and reports health and safety incidents immediately to the supervisor.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree, plus 1 year of related experience in an art discipline
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Products and Applications.
  • Subject to employment screenings, including FBI check, if applicable.
  • Driver's license and personal vehicle, preferred.

Working Conditions

  • Works in an office environment and art studio setting.

Requirements

Physical requirements

  • On occasion, may need to lift supplies weighing up to 40 pounds.
  • For scree-printing instructions, must be able to work relevant equipment.
  • Assist participants with ADL, toileting, feeding, as needed.

Lifting Requirements

  • Medium: exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
