Job Description:

This role supports the Ground Support Equipment (GSE) Team responsible for ensuring our ground support equipment is safe and reliable for employees. Additionally, this Consultant delivers on our Purpose by leading the research and development of solutions that advance the overall strategic objectives of the department and enterprise. Some responsibilities include data and dashboarding, end-to-end data reporting, setting up data structures from 3rd party vendors, setting data requirements, reviewing data in AWS, and transferring it from SQL to Alteryx to Tableau to build reports. The Senior Ground Support Consultant is a strong communicator with a proactive mindset who looks forward to leading impactful initiatives at Southwest.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain interactive dashboards or reports that provide real-time insights into key performance indicators (KPIs), operational metrics, staffing levels, financial outcomes, predictions, and trends; ensure data insights are presented in an actionable manner

  • Query complex data sets using AWS Redshift and SQL to develop operational models and analyses that provide insights into GSE performance and trends.

  • Extract, transform, structure and load (ETL) data from third-party sources through APIs using Python, Alteryx, and AWS ETL tools, ensuring data integrity, quality, and accessibility for further analysis

  • Build and maintain operational models to simulate scenarios, forecast performance, and assess potential risks and opportunities to support strategic decision-making.

  • Manage and lead cross-functional initiatives, facilitating meetings with key stakeholders across all levels to ensure alignment and project success.

  • Develop and implement statistical models to forecast performance, predict outcomes, and optimize resource allocation. Apply advanced techniques such as regression analysis, time-series forecasting, and Monte Carlo simulations to inform strategic decision-making.

  • Analyze operational and maintenance data to identify cost-saving opportunities. Use statistical insights to recommend changes that improve the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) for key assets or resources.

  • Serve as a trusted advisor and thought leader within the organization, providing strategic insights and recommendations to optimize GSE operations.

  • Conduct scenario modeling and risk assessments to evaluate potential outcomes, inform mitigation strategies, and drive decisions that reduce downtime and operational risk.

  • Continuously evaluate and improve operational processes through data analysis and statistical insights, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness in day-to-day operations.

  • Clearly communicate project timelines, risks, issues, and key decisions to executives and senior management to ensure transparency and alignment.

  • May perform other job duties as directed by Employee's Leaders

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Skilled and proficient in BI tools such as Tableau, and advanced skills with ETL tools like Alteryx.

  • Skilled and proficient with AWS Redshift, SQL, and querying large data sets

  • Skilled in using statistical tools such as Python, R, or SAS for advanced analysis and modeling

  • Ability to work with large datasets and conduct complex data transformations

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail

  • Ability to communicate effectively with individuals and groups

  • Ability to translate complex data into actionable insights

  • Ability to assume a high level of responsibility and to provide direction in a cross-functional, team-oriented environment

  • Ability to work well under pressure while performing multiple concurrent tasks with frequent interruptions

  • Skilled in demonstrating initiative, entrepreneurialism, and creativity

  • Ability to view problems as an opportunity for improvement and demonstrate initiative

  • Ability to perform job functions independently with limited supervision

Education

  • Required: High School Diploma or GED

Experience

  • Expert-level experience, expansive and far-reaching knowledge in:

    • Asset lifecycle management and equipment reliability analysis.

    • Predictive maintenance strategies and machine learning models

    • Consulting, corporate strategy, technology, product, or service design

    • Meeting and workshop development and management, deck writing, storyboarding, inductive/deductive reasoning, interviewing, issue analysis, data analysis, process design, and change management

  • Preferred: Experience with Python, SQL, Alteryx, and Tableau

Physical Abilities

  • Ability to perform work duties from [limited space work station/desk/office area] for extended periods of time

  • Ability to communicate and interact with others in the English language to meet the demands of the job

  • Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed and accuracy to meet the demands of the job

  • Ability to be or remain stationary in a forward and downward position

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary seated position for under 50% of the time

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary upright position for under 50% of the time

  • Ability to traverse from one location to another (does not include travel to/from work)

  • Must maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelines

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or have the authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986

  • Must be at least 18 years of age

  • Must be able to comply with Company attendance standards as described in established guidelines

Pay & Benefits:

Competitive market salary from $122,200 per year to $135,800 per year* depending on qualifications and experience. For eligible Leadership and individual contributor roles, additional bonus opportunities are available and awarded at the discretion of the company.
