Assistant Director of Adult Learner Outreach

About the Opportunity
This position will serve as a key member of the Outreach and
Communications division, reporting directly to the Director of Outreach and
Communications. The primary responsibility of this position is to plan and
execute outreach initiatives aimed at engaging adult learners who are
interested in pursuing or returning to college, providing them with vital
information on available financial aid options. The role will collaborate with
partner research organizations to conduct a comprehensive financial aid landscape
analysis, evaluating various innovative financial aid strategies for adult
learners. The goal is to identify the approaches that hold the greatest
potential for reconnecting adults with education and supporting them in
completing their degrees. Based on this analysis, the position will lead the
development of a financial aid resource guide tailored specifically for adult
learners, which will also include guidance on utilizing military education
benefits for eligible service members and veterans. The Assistant Director for
Adult Learner Outreach will play a key role in building strategic partnerships
with organizations that serve adult learners, while also promoting the piloting
of innovative financial aid strategies that could inform future policy
recommendations. A successful leader in this position will establish a robust
network of partners to create an ecosystem of support for adult learners,
providing comprehensive programming, content, and outreach assistance.
Additionally, the role will involve building strong relationships with military
bases throughout the state to ensure that service members and veterans are
well-informed about their available educational options. This position will
also lead the development and implementation of a FAFSA Tracker designed
specifically for adult learners, enabling them to track their progress in
completing the FAFSA - a crucial step toward making college more affordable and
accessible. This role works in close collaboration with the internal Creative
Services team and external agencies to bring strategic marketing campaigns and
audience engagement events to fruition, inspiring the team to produce dynamic
content that connects with a diverse audience. The ideal candidate for this
role will have exceptional communication, presentation, and project management
skills. Success in this role requires creative thinking, problem-solving, and
proven managerial ability, and experience developing best-in-class, engaging
and effective marketing strategy. This position will successfully manage
multiple projects.

This position is expected to work on-site at least three
days per week and may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement, consistent
with System Office policy. North Carolina State Education Assistance Authority
(NCSEAA) employees are generally required to reside in North Carolina, within a
2-hour commuting distance of their assigned duty station.

About the North Carolina State Education Assistance Authority
The North Carolina State Education Assistance Authority (NCSEAA) is the State agency that has been helping North Carolinians pay for education since 1965. NCSEAA administers financial aid and savings programs, helps students and families understand how to make paying for college more manageable, and provides resources for education professionals about financial aid.

About the Team

The Outreach and Communications Division conducts outreach programs to educate and assist North Carolina students and families with paying for college and provides training programs for school counselors and college access organizations. The Division also oversees outreach campaigns to multiple target audiences, media relations, website content of the CFNC, NCSEAA, K-12 and RDS websites as well as agency communications. The office acts as a liaison between NCSEAA and the communications offices of key partner organizations. The Division also coordinates all public record requests

Minimum Education, Experience, and Skills
Minimum of bachelor's degree; master's or other advanced degree preferred. Spanish-speaking fluency preferred.

Required Competencies
Strong commitment to and knowledge of college access services for adults, FAFSA completion, and financial aid. College access experience in the areas of college admissions, financial aid, and college outreach. Experience taking the initiative to organize and implement new programs. Experience presenting persuasively to groups, both virtually and in person. Commitment to quality and innovation. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Comfortable analyzing data, presenting it visually and explaining data nuances to education stakeholders. Fluent use of: - Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) - Virtual meeting platform (e.g. Teams, Zoom Meeting) Familiarity with: - Email communications platform (e.g. Constant Contact) - Webinar platform (e.g. Zoom webinar)
