Job Title: Animal Care Technician

Hours: Monday - Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM

Rotating weekends (every 3rd weekend, OT available) and rotating holidays

Job Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated Animal Care Technician to join our team. This role involves handling, caring for, and maintaining rodents in a controlled research environment. The ideal candidate will have at least two years of experience in animal handling and cage maintenance, ensuring proper care and compliance with animal welfare regulations. Certifications are a plus but not required.

Responsibilities:



  • Handle and care for rodents in accordance with established protocols and ethical guidelines.
  • Perform daily husbandry duties, including feeding, watering, and monitoring animal health.
  • Clean and sanitize cages, equipment, and work areas to maintain a sterile environment.
  • Observe animals for signs of illness, injury, or abnormal behavior and report findings.
  • Maintain accurate records of animal care, feeding schedules, and environmental conditions.
  • Assist with minor veterinary procedures and routine health checks.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety and regulatory standards related to animal research.
  • Work closely with research staff and veterinarians to support study protocols.


Physical Requirements:



  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs.
  • Comfortable working in a research facility with live animals.
  • Ability to stand, bend, and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods.


Qualifications:



  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in animal handling and cage maintenance.
  • Familiarity with standard operating procedures in an animal research setting.
  • Certifications in Laboratory Animal Science (ALAT, LAT, or LATG) are a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow protocols precisely.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
