Performs all carotid and peripheral vascular testing as ordered by the physician; educates patients and family concerning diagnostic testing that identifies vascular disease processes; interacts with members of the health care team to provide quality care for the patient. Responsibilities A day in the life of a Vascular Technologist at Hackensack Meridian Health includes: 1. Check physician's order to ensure proper test was ordered. Perform test in a confident and accurate manner following established protocol, proper positioning, imaging techniques and equipment settings to produce high quality diagnostic images. Reviews each study to assure adequate information is captured. Demonstrates knowledge of hospital information system for completion of orders and charging. Generates computer request for patients and maintains inpatient and outpatient schedules in a timely fashion. Should be able to use all relevant computer applications, i.e., PHS, Horizon Clinicals, Clinstar, etc. Qualifications Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: 1. Graduate of AMA approved school of diagnostic medical sonography with specialty in vascular technology or practical experience gained in a diagnostic vascular setting combined with continuing education with references to support competency.
