Purpose of the Job

We are seeking a dynamic Systems Administrator to join our team in a hybrid role out of our Mountain View, CA office. This role is pivotal in maintaining the stability, security, and performance of our global production systems. While the role prioritizes operational excellence and infrastructure management, experience with DevOps practices (e.g., automation, CI/CD pipelines) is required to collaborate with engineering teams and optimize workflow

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and monitor day-to-day operations of our multiple production systems.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure, networking, and application performance issues across Linux/AWS environments.
  • Maintain and secure AWS infrastructure, including EC2, VPC, DNS, load balancers, firewalls, and SSL/T configuration
  • Support development teams by provisioning staging environments and assisting with deployment automation (CI/CD pipelines).
  • Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation) to manage configurations and reduce manual tasks.
  • Monitor system health using tools like Nagios, Prometheus, or CloudWatch, and optimize resource utilization.
  • Administer version control systems (GitHub) and assist with configuration management (Puppet/Chef/Ansible
  • Collaborate with DevOps/engineering teams to integrate security best practices and streamline workflow
  • Manage virtualization (e.g., VMware, KVM) and containerization technologies (Docker) for hybrid cloud deployments.
  • Document processes and maintain disaster recovery/business continuity plans.

Knowledge, Skills + Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field, with 1+ years of experience in Linux/AWS.
  • Expertise in troubleshooting TCP/IP networking, DNS, VLANs, firewalls, and load balancer.
  • Proficiency in scripting (Bash, Python) for automation and system maintenance.
  • Experience with server virtualization, monitoring tools, and Apache/Nginx stacks..
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices: CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab), IaC, and Docker (Kubernetes is a plus).
  • Knowledge of security hardening, patch management, and compliance.
  • Strong communication skills to bridge IT operations and development teams.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for current or future sponsorship.

Note: The candidate should be prepared for on-call responsibilities in a 24x7 production environment to support global customers.

For Mountain View CA applicants: The salary range for this position is $100,000 to $120,000 annually. Actual compensation packages are based on a variety of factors that are unique to each candidate, including skill set, experience, certifications and work location. This range may be different in other locations due to differences in the cost of labor.
