Summary: As a Health and Safety Intern at Cordia Energy, you will be reporting to the EHS Department & Local Plant Management. Your primary responsibility will be to provide onsite Safety support at Cordia's district energy plants located throughout the Pittsburgh area, while also offering remote assistance to other district energy operations across six states.

Principal Responsibilities & Key Results:

* Conduct workplace safety spot checks and inspections to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety standards.
* Support the implementation and ongoing management of health and safety programs and policies across the organization.
* Prepare safety training materials and assist in the delivery training sessions to educate employees on safety protocols and best practices.
* Promote a culture of safety by engaging employees in awareness campaigns and encouraging active participation in safety initiatives.
* Develop and execute internal communication strategies to enhance safety awareness, including newsletters, weekly safety topics, incident reports, posters, and other engagement activities.
* Engage in safety-related projects, such as creating safety signage, developing safety manuals, and improving emergency response plans.
* Assist investigations into incidents, near misses, and hazard recognition, identify root causes, and propose effective solutions to prevent recurrence.

Knowledge & Skills:
* Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written.
* Strong team player capable of collaborating effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
* Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
* Ability to independently prioritize tasks and manage workload efficiently.
* Familiarity with industrial & construction based regulatory requirements and consensus standards
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, SharePoint, PowerPoint).
* Ability to work independently and make decisions autonomously when necessary.

Ideal Qualifications:
* Currently enrolled, pursuing a bachelor's degree in Safety or technical background.
* Relevant work experience in a construction or industrial setting preferred.
* Comfortable working in diverse environments, including office settings and industrial plants.
